The Tonasket School District is currently looking to fill TWO Paraeducators - Elementary Assignment 1 Year (2020/21) positions.

JOB DESCRIPTION
PARAEDUCATOR - ELEMENTARY ASSIGNMENT - 1 YEAR (2020/21)
DEPARTMENT: As Assigned
REPORTS TO: Building Program/Administrator
WORK DAYS: Monday – Friday, 7 Hours per Day, 8:00 am – 3:30 pm
The position is designed based on the needs of the district on a year-to-year basis. Duties may be adjusted on a year-to-year basis depending on district need.
BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Tutor students individually or in small groups.
- Conference with the classroom teacher to monitor student progress and to develop instructional objectives and appropriate activities for individual students.
- Supervise students when needed.
- Assist in compiling test data and keep required documentation and records.
- Assist in administering standardized test or curriculum-based tests as directed.
- Maintain accurate student files.
- Participate and manage student information of CST meetings as directed.
- Complete required records in a timely manner.
- Track student attendance, academic progress and classroom performance.
- Attend relevant inservices as they are available.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
- Give assessments.
- Assist with student/family communication.
- Recess Duty – schedule (times, area, and grade level) assigned on a yearly basis.
- Test proctor for computerized tests.
- Help students in computer assisted instruction.
- Additional duties as assigned.
MS Para and ASB Advisor Duties Include:
- Coordinate ASB activities and advise ASB officers.
- Coordinate ASB Elections
- Guide Students through ASB meetings and decisions.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Partner with Leadership Teacher to coordinate ASB/Leadership collaboration.
ES Work Room Duties Include:
- Work Room
- Complete projects assigned by staff
- Operate and maintain all equipment in the copy room including:
- Copy Machine
- Duplicator
- Laminator
- Die Cut
- Assist in the Cub Den as directed.
ES Library Duties Include:
Know the organization of the library.
Assist the librarian as directed.
Check materials in and out of the library (Watch for holds and other unexpected messages)
Shelve and straighten collection daily. (Set aside items that need attention)
Housekeeping: dusting, watering, picking up, etc.
Lifting up to 25 lbs: books, equipment etc.
Gathering resources for staff (teachers)
Provide assistance to patrons as needed or requested.
Find books for patrons and pull collections (for teachers, consult with librarian)
Help place and remove holds and check patron status
Utilize computer search
Help with other computer applications and projects
Facilitate high expectations, appropriate behavior and procedures
Promote accountability
Deal with disgruntled clientele.
Collect and track lost/damaged book fines.
Destiny tasks beyond circulation:
Generate and distribute reports
Batch process items and patrons
Import and export data
Cataloging: Add AR information
Delete discarded items
Find prices
Make corrections as necessary
Find pertinent information by utilizing item or patron status and history to solve questions
Process and repair books
Such as adding and covering spine labels, bar codes
Various book covering and repair and cleaning tasks
Suggest books for discard
Receive orders and reconcile packing lists and invoices
Technology: AV Equipment supervision and scheduling
iPad/computer cart management
Check in/out
Clean each iPad and return them to appropriate settings after student/staff use
Update apps using Apple Configurator
Audiobooks
Check in/out
Manually track student requests
Delete/download audiobooks in a timely manner
Other projects as directed such as:
Preparing slide shows
Displays
Help set up for presenters
Errands and deliveries
Miscellaneous reception and clerical duties
Assist with supervision of volunteers and student helpers
Assist with inventory
Processing magazines and newspapers
Migrant Student Advocate Duties Include:
- Summary: The Migrant Student Advocate will provide support needs of migrant students and their learning.
- Ability to speak Spanish fluently to converse with students and parents preferred.
- Work with the district’s Migrant Education Program Director/Coordinator and the school staff to identify and establish program and student goals in alignment with the district’s local plan and the State Service Delivery Plan.
- Provide supplemental support and services focused on meeting the unique needs of migrant students.
- Assist in coordinating services with other resources migrant students may be eligible and entitled to receive.
- Work with at-risk migrant students and families.
Bilingual Aide
- Assist the classroom teacher in remedial instruction for students in the Title I Schoolwide program.
- Tutor students individually or in small groups.
- Conference with the classroom teacher and the LSC director to develop instructional objectives and appropriate activities for individual students.
- Assist in administering standardized test or curriculum-based tests.
- Assist in compiling test data and keeping appropriate records.
- Attend relevant inservices as they are available.
- Assist in the supervision of students.
- Help students in computer-assisted instruction.
- Speak and write Spanish and English fluently to communicate with students and parents.
- Translate documents and correspondence from English to Spanish and Spanish to English.
Bilingual ECE Duties Include:
- Ability to speak Spanish fluently to converse with students and parents preferred.
- Regularly lift 40-50 pounds individually or push over 100 pounds.
- Assist in student’s educational plan including development and implementation.
- Plans, prepares, and develops various teaching aids for student instruction.
- Implement and assist with behavior management programs as directed by the teacher.
- Be aware and responsive of medical needs of students; first aid certified.
- Assist students with eating and/or toileting needs if necessary.
- Efficiently manage required forms, data collection and record keeping.
- Assist with loading and unloading of students from buses.
- Maintains sanitization of room, instructional area, equipment and utensils.
- Provide supervision in school environment; playground, cafeteria or other areas.
- Ability to use: Copy machine, computer, sewing machine, cooking and basic construction tools.
- Ability to work with and take direction from multiple staff.
- Provide necessary health care interventions as directed. (Examples: medications intermittent catheterization, airway maintenance, range of motion, feeding tubes, etc.)
Outreach Program Duties Include:
- Tutor students individually and facilitate instruction in small groups.
- Conference with the classroom teacher to monitor student progress.
- Under the supervision of the certificated teacher, meet with selected students to monitor and document progress toward goals specified in the student's written learning plan.
- Supervise students when needed.
- Assist in compiling test data and keep required documentation and records.
- Maintain accurate student files.
- Complete required records in a timely manner.
- Track student attendance, academic progress and classroom performance.
- Attend relevant professional growth opportunities as they are available.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
- Give assessments.
- Assist with student/family communication.

- Skills/strength in Science and Math, especially Geometry and Algebra 2

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Must meet federal guidelines for Highly Qualified by having an AA degree or 72 quarter hours or 48 semester college credits or documentation of successfully passing the state assessment.
MANDATORY CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Successful clearance of the FBI and Washington State Patrol fingerprint background check.
- Successful Washington State Sexual Misconduct clearance.
- Completion of Federal I-9, Employment Verification Eligibility form.
