DSIL VC Sessions Participant Guide

Be sure you are ready to login to the live DSIL VC sessions!

Get Ready for 'Zoom' and the DSIL Virtual Classroom Sessions

Welcome to the quick webinar guide for Virtual Classroom participants. This year's Virtual Classroom is hosted on Zoom!

We highly recommend that you create an account before August 15 to facilitate your participation in the Virtual Classroom. In addition to creating an account, consider downloading the desktop or mobile (Windows, iOS, or Android) versions of the meeting client depending on your preferred connection method.

Alternatively, you can join as a 'guest' with a meeting link and password; this is available to all registered participants at pax.dsilglobal.com. However, you will still be prompted to initiate the Zoom software, so this may take an additional 10 minutes depending on your connection speed.

How to Join a Meeting

Join DSIL Virtual Classroom Sessions in 3 Steps!

Step 1: Go to the session flyer and click on the 'Join the Live Session' button

This will open up the Zoom webinar page- you will be able to enter a meeting ID (listed on each flyer).

Step 2: Enter the password to join the meeting

You will receive a password for each Zoom meeting for which you register! A calendar invite will be also be emailed to all registered participants in advance- note- the contents of the invitation have the link to the meeting, the ID and the password.

Step 3: Be sure your microphone is working and muted

Sometimes it may take a few minutes for the meeting to get set up on your computer. Please log-in to sessions 10 minutes before they start to ensure your audio and video are ready.

Helpful Hints!

  • In the main meeting screen area, you can communicate with fellow participants and lecturers in the chat box at the bottom of the screen.
  • Lecturers can use the whiteboard, share files, and speak to you live via video feed.
  • When the meeting has ended you can leave the meeting by clicking the ‘Leave Meeting’ button at the bottom center of the screen.
  • Always double check that your microphone is on MUTE while listening to the speaker.
