Inspire every child to discover, learn, achieve, and care.
Principal Corner
Dear Parents,
Planning for the next school year begins early. Sometimes parents wonder how students are placed in classrooms and if they can make requests to have their children placed in particular classrooms.
We recognize that parents also have good insights into how their children learn. If you would like to request that certain information be considered in assigning a placement, please complete this Class Placement Request Form. The most helpful comments speak to specific insights you have about your child as a learner. Please consider the following guidelines regarding the placement request process:
*Please do not request a specific teacher.
*If you have more than one child, please complete a separate form for each student.
*All information is kept confidential and only read by Dr. Dwyer and Mrs. Sobotka.
*All requests must be submitted by Monday, April 5.
We have an excellent staff, and so it is our hope that you will trust our expertise with the input from your child’s current teacher to determine the best placement for your child for the upcoming school year.
Have a wonderful day!
Dr. Dwyer
NEWS BULLETIN
IMPORTANT REMINDER ON ATTENDANCE and COHORT DAYS
- Friday March 12 Records Day - No student Attendance
- Wednesday March 17 students from GROUP A will be attending school in person
(see Hybrid Calendar at the bottom of the newsletter)

NOW THAT WE ARE IN PERSON CAN MY CHILD ZOOM IN?
If you selected that your child attend school 5 days per week in-person, your child is expected to be at school for instruction. To prevent disruption to learning, in-person students may not join Zoom instruction unless given explicit permission from the principal. Permission will be granted only in a limited number of circumstances (e.g., student illness or quarantine). Maintaining consistent in-person attendance supports teachers with planning appropriate instructional activities for all students. Thank you for your attention to this.

ILLINOIS ASSESSMENT OF READINESS TEST
Dear Parents/Guardians:
The Illinois Assessment of Readiness Test, an assessment for all students in Illinois, will be administered in District 64 from April 7-16.
The best preparation for the IAR is classroom instruction provided during the school year. There are also additional things you can also do to promote your child’s success:
Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and eats a healthy breakfast before each day of testing.
Provide your child with words of encouragement. While we don’t want our students to feel anxious about any assessment, we do want them to do their best.
Please make sure your child remembers to bring earbuds to school.
The IAR is an online assessment and students will be using their Chromebooks and earbuds to complete these tests. Please make sure your child brings his or her Chromebook to school fully charged.
Below is our school’s schedule for test administration:
Wednesday, April 7: Math 1
Thursday, April 8: ELA 1
Friday, April 9: Math 2
Monday, April 12: ELA 2
Tuesday, April 13: Math 3
Thursday, April 15: ELA "Field Test"
If you would like to learn more about the IAR tests, sample tests are available for your review. Thank you for your support in helping your child be prepared for upcoming testing.

UPDATED HEALTH GUIDELINES
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Thank you for your ongoing cooperation with following health guidelines to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 within our school community. As a reminder, please keep your child home if he/she is experiencing any of the following symptoms, and consult with your family healthcare provider to arrange for your child to be tested:
Fever (100℉ or higher) within the past 24 hours
New onset or worsening of cough (unrelated to asthma/allergies)
Shortness of breath, difficulty breathing (unrelated to asthma/allergies)
Sore throat, nasal congestion, runny nose (unrelated to allergies)
Recent loss of taste or smell
Chills, muscle aches, fatigue
Headache that persists or worsens
Diarrhea, vomiting, or severe nausea
In addition, please note that if any household member experiences one or more of these symptoms, all household members, including siblings, must remain home until the person with symptoms tests negative or is diagnosed with an alternative illness. If your child becomes ill at school, siblings of that child will be sent home as well and must remain home until the above conditions are met.
If you are calling in an absence for your sick child, please phone the main office. In addition, please fill out the COVID-19 Symptom Checklist within the PowerSchool Parent Portal. This action will notify the building nurse to contact you to provide further instruction about your child’s return to school
Please call or email your building nurse if you have any questions.
