Great Start!

Dear CLA Families,

Thank you for all your support at home to help get this year off to such a great start! I also want to thank our students for doing so well in our new virtual environment. Now that we have completed our first full week of school, we hope you and your family have been able to establish a new routine and schedule at home. We know that not all of our students are able to join us in our virtual sessions, but we are looking forward to starting our In Person classes and seeing everyone back at school.

As Dr. Heinz shared, the start dates for In Person classes were moved back. Here are the new dates for the CLA Programs.

Monday, September 21:

  • ACES, Multiple Needs (MN), and Early Childhood SIP Classrooms:

    • EC SIP: Mrs. Barr, Ms. Heather, and Ms. Katie

    • They will start half-day only (9:00-11:30 a.m.)

    • These programs will transition to a full- or extended-day starting on Tuesday, October 13

Tuesday, September 29:

  • All Self-contained Early Childhood Classrooms:

    • Mrs. Das, Mrs. Dunham, Ms. Jorie, and Ms. Melissa

Tuesday, October 13:

  • ECDEC/Blended Early Childhood:

    • Ms. Anna, Ms. Beth, Ms. Courtney, Ms. Hollie, and Ms. Mindee

Parent Orientation Dates

This year, Parent Orientation will be held virtually. Your child’s teacher will send you a link to join a live Google Meet. During their presentation, they will review their classroom, introduce team members, and review their classroom expectations and procedures. Each teacher will provide times for parents to ask general questions. We would like to remind parents that this evening is not meant for individual questions about your child, but to address parent’s questions about our program and classrooms. Each parent is welcome to contact their child’s teacher to set up a time to answer individual questions about their child or their IEP services.

Early Childhood/ECDEC Classrooms - Wednesday September 2nd from 6:00-7:00 pm

ACES/MN Classrooms - Thursday September 3rd 6:00-7:00 pm

Technology Update

Seesaw for Preschool Students

We want to thank all of our parents, students, and staff for their patience with the technology challenges we have experienced to start the year. In August, all of our PreK students were given a generic username to access their classroom information. Next week all Early Childhood and ECDEC students will be provided their own personal email, username, and password to log into a Chromebook and Seesaw. Even if you do not have a District 15 Chromebook, the username and passwords will allow you access to your child’s Seesaw classroom account from your own personal computer, tablet, or phone.

At the end of our Parent Orientation session, your child’s teacher will provide you with a video to review and directions on how to log into your child’s Seesaw account and classroom. Starting on Tuesday 9/8, all of our teachers will begin to use Seesaw as our primary form of communication with parents and students. Teachers and Clinicians will be able to share their lessons, activities, and links to Google Meet sessions all through Seesaw. After Parent Orientation, be on the lookout for the parent tutorials and student login information.

Material Pickup at CLA for Early Childhood and ECDEC

Blended Early Childhood Classrooms:

(Students in Ms. Anna, Ms. Annie, Ms. Beth, Ms. Courtney, Ms. Hollie, Ms. Jeannie, and Ms. Mindee)

If you have a child in one of our Blended Early Childhood classrooms, there will be an additional material pick up at CLA to ensure each of the students have the essential materials for their program. Parents are asked to come by and pick up their child’s materials on Monday Aug. 31st between 10:30-11:30 or 2:30-3:30 by the Gym. Teachers will be outside passing out materials. Parents and their child should stay in their car and drive up to the gym entrance. Staff will bring the materials to your car.

Additional Materials for Self-contained Early Childhood:

We want to ensure all of our students have the necessary supplies at home to complete the different activities our teachers have planned for your child while we are in this virtual environment. There will be a material pick up for all self-contained students on Sept. 10th for supplemental Early Childhood materials. More information will be provided prior to next week. If you have not already, please take a moment to complete this survey (Early Childhood Self-contained Materials Survey). It will help our planning for next week.

District 15 Provided Meals

While we continue to be virtual, District 15 is providing meals for students who would normally receive a meal during the school day. ONLY full day and morning students are eligible for meals. Please see more information on the District 15 website for locations and times.
