WELCOME TO SCHOOL

Last week we had our very first powhiri to invite our newest members to our Toko School team - Mrs Morrison, Mrs Kasupene and Liam our new 5 year old. A very exciting time. Some of the senior girls performed a karanga, some of the senior boys said the Mihi, and all the school sang some songs.

BRAIN BREAK

Just a reminder, that children, particularly in the junior school, have a 'brain-break' before morning tea. This often includes some sort of exercise, a drink from their water-bottle as well as a healthy snack - fruit or vege (eg an apple or carrot sticks etc). It should not be chocolate biscuits or muesli bars etc. These are a morning tea or lunch-time food.

TOKO SCHOOL COUNTRY FAIR - CAKE AUCTION

Could all families please supply us with some home baking for our country fair. This is a great little fundraiser for our school, and your help is appreciated. Baking can be dropped off in the hall, on the day of the country fair or if bringing after school - into Room 5.

HELPERS REQUIRED

If you able to assist on a stall or with the bbq can you please contact the school office: office@toko.school.nz

TOKO SCHOOL TRIAL BIKE RIDE

This is being held on Sunday 29th March. If you are interested in helping our sub committee with this we would really appreciate it. This is a wonderful fundraiser for our school.

SUNSCREEN & SUNHATS

As it is that time of year where the sun is beating down on all of us, it is important to ensure that we are putting sunscreen on our children before school. Some sunscreen is provided at school from the picnic table outside the staffroom, if required. All children require a bucket hat (no caps please) and these can be purchased from the office. No hat, no play.

MATHLETICS

Toko School has been lucky enough again to be given some funding from TSB which means we are able to provide mathletics to children in years 3 to 8. This is a great programme and certainly helps children with their numeracy. Children have been given log-in details and should be able to access their account with Mathletics at home and at school.

DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP POLICIES & BYOD POLICIES

If a digital citizenship policy note has been sent home to your family, will you please return it signed to school. If your child is bringing to school a device for the first time, then a BYOD policy form has been given to your child and it needs to be returned to school, signed.

YEAR 6 CAMP

Information will be sent home today about this.

Year 3-5 Camp Meeting

Wednesday 19th February, Room 5 at 3pm.

TOKO SCHOOL APP

It is really important that all our school families download our school app. This Toko School App is the main way we will contact parents in an emergency and if we need to get information out to our community immediately.

Information about how to download the school app can be found on our website: SCHOOL APP

SCHOOL NEWSLETTERS

These will be sent home every second Thursday this year, on an even week.

BYOD 2020

This year we will be using the new technology curriculum which will involve us getting creative with devices and will mean that children will use them more effectively and creatively. If you are thinking of buying your child a device for school, Noel Leeming and Harvey Norman both have good packages available. We are also allowing the Year 3's to bring their own device to school.

FROM THE SPORTS DESK

TURNBULL CUP

Great effort last night at the Turnbull Cup swimming competition with this lovely bunch of kids. Our A relay team (Lexi, Sam W, William and Sam H) won the small schools relay and got 3rd in the big and small relay. William was first in the Year 8 boys, Sam W first in the Year 7 boys, Arlo second in the Year 6 boys and Lexi was second in the Year 8 girls. A special mention to Amy for filling in at the last minute and being the most enthusiastic supporter. Well done Toko!

TOUCH

Information regarding coaches and teams will be sent home tomorrow.
