News & Announcements
2023-2024 Instructional Calendar
At Monday evening’s Board of School Directors meeting, the board approved the 2023-2024 instructional calendar, which is viewable by clicking the Quick Access link below.
It is important to note that this calendar includes both a start and end date that is a few days earlier than where we have been in the last few years. This is the result of construction that is anticipated to take place during the summer of 2024.
We will likely follow a similar early-start/early-out schedule for the next several school years as we work to complete a host of construction projects that are necessary to maintain facilities and keep pace with enrollment growth.
We sincerely appreciate your support, patience, and understanding throughout this process.
Change to Start/End Times for Eastern Elementary Schools
District administration has been working over the past year to identify ways to return our eastern elementary schools to an earlier start time. With the identification of an additional transportation service and new drivers, we believe we are able to move Hampden, Shaull, Sporting Hill, and Winding Creek Elementary schools back to a 9:15 a.m. start time, with an end time of 3:55 p.m., beginning next school year.
Please click the Quick Access link below to view the anticipated 2023-24 instructional day schedule by building for each school across the district. (NOTE: Hours in which the building is physically open and students are permitted to enter for the start of the day vary by building.)

Help us Welcome Mr. Tysarczyk to CV!
At Monday evening's meeting, our Board of School Directors took action on an administrative recommendation to appoint Mr. Richard Tysarczyk as the new principal of Shaull Elementary School. He replaces Mr. Mike Azzalina, who late last year announced his resignation effective last week.
Mr. Tysarczyk comes to us from East Pennsboro Area School District, where he has served as elementary school principal since 2013. Prior, he served as a special education teacher with Eastern York School District and Baltimore County Public Schools - Western School of Technology.
We are excited to welcome Mr. Tysarczyk as our newest CV Eagle and member of the Shaull Sharks family, and we are confident in his abilities to lead our Shaull Sharks school community with pride. We would also like to take a moment to thank Mr. Azzalina for his tremendous support of our school community and we wish him well in his future endeavors.
It is anticipated that Mr. Tysarczyk will begin his transition to Shaull in March. As previously shared, Dr. Tony Parks, our current CVVA principal, will be onsite in the interim to assist with building management and to ease the transition process.
Freezin' for a Reason!
Last weekend, staff from many of our buildings across the district came together to take a dip in Pinchot Lake, all with a common goal to raise money for the Capital Area Region Polar Plunge. Our Freezin’ Eagles raised more than $5000 for Special Olympics this year, and nearly $90,000 since joining the plunge more than a decade ago.
The Freezin’ Eagles also captured the Rockin Schoolhouse award, which is presented to the school team that raises the most money. Congratulations! #CVproud
Join us for Descendants, the musical.
You're invited to join us at Mountain View Middle School for The Mountain View Player’s wickedly R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S performance of Disney’s Descendants: The Musical. Tickets are on sale now (see link below).
Based on the hit Disney Channel movies, this show brings together music, plot, and characters from the films in a new stage show. What will happen when good and evil collide? The villains from the Disney universe have all been banished to the Isle of the Lost and are led by Mal, daughter of Maleficent; Evie, daughter of Queen Grimhilde; Carlos, son of Cruella de Vil; and Jay, son of Jafar. These children have been raised by their evil parents, who all hold quite the reputation, but when Prince Ben, son of Queen Belle and King Beast, invites them to attend the illustrious Auradon Prep, a school where the heroes of the Disney universe attend, what will happen? As Prince Ben is preparing to take the throne and move Auradon forward by attempting to mend relationships and decreeing that they would be better together by living as one, does everyone in the Isle and Auradon share in the vision? What will happen as good and evil collide and the children of these famed villains have to make choices of whether they will continue their parents’ legacy or forge their own path forward? This high energy musical incorporates show stopping musical numbers, classic and new characters, and magic as it portrays the journeys of each character.
Our cast and crew of around 100 students hope that you will join us for our performances on Friday, March 17 at 7pm; Saturday, March 18 at 7pm; and Sunday, March 19 at 2pm in the Mountain View Performing Arts Center.
Tickets are $10 for adults, and $5 for students and children and are currently on sale via this link: https://www.showtix4u.com/events/16592.
