Hawksbill Turtle
The Eretmochelys Imbricata or better known as the Hawksbill turtle is a sea turtle that frequents North Carolina beaches. It is constantly being hunted for its beautiful shell. It is known to be get as long as 45 inches, and can weigh over 150 pounds. Their heads are curved and sharp like the beaks of birds. It has claws on each fin, and is very defensive around other animals. They can be found near coral reefs near the coast. You can often tell if they are male or female, because the males have brighter shells.
