Greetings from the Principal
Dear Riverview families,
It's hard to believe that this is the last week of the semester! The time is just flying by. We are so glad to be in this partnership with you and look forward to a very successful second semester.
On behalf of the entire staff, we wish you a healthy and peaceful holiday season. It's a joy-filled time of year to get together with friends and family to celebrate and be thankful for all of the wonderful people in our lives. Thank you for all of your support, and enjoy your family time over winter break!
Make it a great week!
Beth Mildren
Staff Spotlight
Hi! My name is Tricia Wilson. I have worked in the DeSoto school district for five years, and this is my fourth year at Riverview. For the last three years, I worked with Mrs. Hallier in the Library. This is my first year working as an aide with the English Language Learners.
My husband, Ben, and I have lived in Shawnee since 1999. We have three sons, Nick, Joe and Matt. Matt is a sophomore at Mill Valley, and Joe is a senior. You may have met Joe while he was working at the JCPRD program. We are excited to have him attend K-State next fall. Nick, our oldest, is a sophomore at Johnson County Community College where he is working on his Associate’s Degree and plays baseball with the Cavaliers, before he moves on to KU. Of course I can’t forget our miniature schnauzer, Sophie, who we also call “Rally Dog” because she brought good luck to the Royals when she wore her royal blue bows.
I truly enjoy working with the students here at Riverview, and have had so much fun getting to know them and many of their families.

Watch D.O.G.S
WHO LET THE D.O.G.S OUT!
Dads, enjoy a day or part of a day away from work at Riverview as a Watch DOG! Sign up online or scan the QR code below to get involved.
What are Watch DOGS (Dads of Great Students)
WatchDOGS are fathers, grandfathers or uncles who volunteer for at least one day each year at an official WATCH D.O.G.S. school.
What do WatchDOGS do (while they are at school)? During the day, WatchDOGS may read and work on flash cards with students, play at recess, eat lunch with students, patrol the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow and any other assigned activities where they actively engage with not only their own students, but other students as well. Many school principals have reported that the mere presence of a WatchDOG dad dramatically reduces reports of bullying. On the day of their participation, WatchDOG dads are given a brief review of their involvement and they wear an official WATCH D.O.G.S. t-shirt with a disposable ‘Dog Tag’ identifying them as a WatchDOG.
