9/4/22
Greetings Warriors,
I hope you all had a great holiday weekend and were able to create some family memories. Can you believe we are already in the 4th week of school? Our upcoming week will be action packed and fun-filled.
Our scholars will begin MAP testing. All students will take their MAP Reading and Math assessments this Thursday and Friday, respectively, during their math and reading classes. Please ensure your scholar gets a good night’s sleep and reports to school on time Thursday and Friday. We receive our scholars promptly at 8:30 am.
Our Back to School (BTS) dance will be held Friday from 4:45 until 6:30 PM. Wristbands will be sold Thursday and Friday for $5. Snacks will be sold at the dance. Please send your scholars with extra money so they may purchase something to eat ($1-$3 per item) and support our school. Students who engaged in a fight this school year may NOT attend our after school dance.
"Stand with Uvalde"
Tomorrow is the first day of school for Uvalde CISD. To show solidarity across the State, we are asking all scholars to wear maroon & white in support of Uvalde's first day of school. Remember, jeans may not have holes, shirts must be school appropriate, hoodies are not allowed. Scholars must still adhere to the Resources / Dress Code when not in uniform.
Discipline
Parents, please encourage your scholars to adhere to the Resources / Code of Conduct. At TCMS, we take pride in being a TEA B Rated campus and we hold our scholars to the highest expectations behaviorally and academically. We need your support. Please encourage your scholars to report inappropriate behaviors and to keep their hands to themselves. Regrettably, we had two fights Thursday. Students who fight at TCMS, will receive citations that will require the student and the parents to report to court. Students should not be encouraged to fight, but should be encouraged to notify an administrator or staff member so that we may intervene and help our scholars work through their concerns. We provide SEL (socio-emotional learning) strategies to our scholars weekly. You may click on this link Teaching Guide: Preventing Conflicts and Violence - Lesson Plan & Curriculum for ways to help your scholar avoid an altercation.
Behavior to attend future activities
For students to attend our in-school or after school dances/celebrations/activities, they must have Es and Ss in conduct and cannot have been assigned to EC, in school or after school suspension. This is not a double consequence. This is an incentive based way to ensure our scholars are well-behaved during the school day throughout the year. We greatly appreciate your support in helping us maintain a safe and orderly environment.
Tardy Sweeps
We will begin our Tardy Sweeps tomorrow, 9/6. Scholars have 3 minutes to walk to their class. Our tardy sweeps are random. We have a tardy sweep at least once a day. Students who do not report to class before the tardy bell may receive detention, ISS or other consequences. Please remind your scholars to report directly to each class.
Reminders: Spray perfumes, colognes and glass containers are not permissible
Parents, we need your help. Please remind your scholars to adhere to Resources / Dress Code. On the last page, in the Hair/Head Coverings it reads head coverings of any kind are not allowed (no hats, no beanies, no bandannas for girls or boys, no scarves, no athletic headbands, no do-rags). In the General section, aerosol sprays, permanent markers, glass items, metal combs and picks, alcohol based hand sanitizer, non-safety scissors, and other items that present a safety concern are not permitted in pockets, bags, purses or backpacks on campus and will be confiscated if found. Parents may pick them up.
After School Athletic Games
Students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to attend any of our after school athletic games or performing and visual arts performances.

Parent Volunteers
The Volunteers in Public Schools program provides opportunities for parents and community members to serve. A wide variety of needs that could be met by volunteers includes mentoring, hall monitoring, cafeteria monitoring, bathroom monitoring, copying, filing, answering phones, chaperoning at events on campus and off-campus, assisting with staff appreciation, updating bulletin boards etcetera. You may register as a volunteer by clicking here Volunteer Registration.
PTO
Please join our PTO. The cost is $10. You may send your monies to school with your scholars this week. Please ensure your name and contact information is included. PTO supports our scholars and teachers throughout the year. Because school’s may ONLY purchase smart snacks, our PTO typically purchases our scholar’s hot chips and drinks and those things students most desire. Please join!
We are looking forward to a great, short week. See your scholars as early as 8:30 AM tomorrow in maroon and white.
