This newsletter is provided for new Head Start employees to share information that will be helpful to you as you begin your new position. Please save a copy of this newsletter to your computer, so that you may refer back to it as the need arises. Google Chrome

You will want to use Google Chrome as your default browser. It is more reliable and more likely to load web pages correctly. You should pin Chrome to your taskbar after you download it to your computer. Download it HERE. Once it is installed, right click the icon on your desktop and select Pin to Taskbar. It will appear at the bottom of your desktop screen and stay there.


You were given your email address at New Employee Orientation. You should regularly use Outlook to access your email at your office. If you are away from your office, you can access email through a web application, but it is not recommended to use the web application when at your own office. Find the Outlook 2013 tutorial HERE.

FSW Manual

Click HERE to go to the online FSW Manual. Answers to most of your questions can be found here. (Who to contact for Nutrition Supplies, Health Supplies, materials for parents, when to turn in items, etc)

Head Start Webpage

You will visit the Head Start webpage daily. All the forms you need to engage and assist parents, support the teachers, and serve the children in the classrooms, are found on the HS webpage. Look around and begin to get familiar with it.

Region 7 Intranet

The R7 intranet is where the online forms are located. To access the intranet, the web address is: You can access the intranet when away from your office by typing in this address and then logging in with your credentials.

Early Childhood Learning and Knowledge Center (ECLKC)

Visit the ECLKC to learn about the 7 Family Outcomes and how you contribute to the families and children.

R7 Head Start Site Map

This is a map of the areas that R7 Head Start currently serves. The sites are divided into 9 teams and each team is assigned a color. There is one Family Service Worker Supervisor per team. (Click image to enlarge map.)
