Tracey's Weekly Friday Community Meetings
Friday, May 4, 2018
Congratulations!!!
We are over the moon that two of our fourth-graders from Tracey School will be attending The National Invention Convention that will be held on May 30th-June 2nd at the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation in Michigan.
Anna Kiriakidis invented, "Bendy The Book Buddy" which is a stuffed animal with bendable arms, legs, and ears as well as a reading light on its left ear. The idea of Bendy came about after she was experiencing arm pain when reading a book every night.
Holden LeGette’s invention is called, “The Hockeynator.” It is a portable rack for hockey and other sports gear, with PVC pipes that have holes in them with deodorizers inside to freshen up wet, and stinky equipment. Coming up with this invention not only solved a problem he came across as a hockey player, but it was also an enjoyable experience for him to create.
To prepare for the event, finalists have to create a video of their sales pitch and add any improvements or modifications to their invention as they see fit.

4th Grade Class Field Trip To Hartford, CT
The fourth-grade team wanted to thank all of the amazing fourth-grade families that helped to chaperone our trip to the state capital. They had over 20 chaperones, and the field trip would not have been possible without them! Fourth-grade families also donated chips and drinks, which were used to provide each child with a snack for the trip. Fourth-grade families rock!

STAY INFORMED
- Parents need to make sure they have updated their email accounts and contact information with the school so that they are receiving the peachjar and robo-call information. To update this information please send an email to espinozak@norwalkps.org or call (203) 899-2960.
New Student Registration Is Now Live Online
Registration of Kindergarteners and other new students is now live online through PowerSchool Registration. This platform allows parents to easily and securely enter their child’s information, and upload appropriate registration documentation. Instructions on how to access the system for your student will be available on your individual school website or on the district website. If you do not know which school your child is assigned to, click here to check your address.
New families to the district should provide contact information to the school where you plan to enroll. After this is completed, an email will be sent to parents containing a link and a brief description of how to register your child.
Please note: parents will still need to supply the original documentation (proof of residency, birth certificate/passport, parent ID, medical forms, etc.) to their schools for verification to complete the registration process. Click here for a complete checklist of documents needed.
Parents who prefer to register at school or do not have internet access may register online at their school via designated Chromebooks. Or, parents may stop by in person at a Kindergarten registration event. Check the district website for dates and locations. Principals will be on hand at these events to answer any questions pertaining to their schools.
For questions on materials needed to register a student at NPS, please visit the NPS website. For help with registration please contact the NPS IT department at powerschool@ norwalkps.org
