Principal's Corner
Now that your children are settling into a routine, it is important that we work together and ensure that they are continuing to attend and engage in their remote learning. Thank you for being such wonderful partners this year. We really couldn't do this without you.
We miss you all so much and are looking forward to learning in person. Remember to wear your mask, practice social distancing and employ good hand washing practices so that everyone can stay healthy!

NWEA Testing
NWEA is a computer based benchmarking test that is used in the RCSD to measure growth and ensure that our students are on track to learn the required skills at each grade level. The test is administered in the fall to gather baseline data, and again in the winter and spring to measure individual student growth. Since students are home during this period of remote learning, parents will serve as the proctors for the exam if they are home. It is important that your child answer the questions to the best of their ability without prompting or hints. This baseline data is important because we are in the process of forming skills groups, and assessing learning loss that may have occurred this spring. Without accurate data, we are not able to provide the proper academic interventions and supports students need. There is a link below to a family toolkit where you can find more information and the answers to any questions that you may have about the NWEA.
Tech Support
Why do Chromebooks connected to mifi constantly drop students in Zoom and operate slowly?
The mifi devices have 10 GB of 4g data a month and Zoom uses a lot of data when students have their video on. Both the mifi device and service are provided as a donation from the 1Million Project Foundation donation.
- Check out the Reducing Chromebook Data Usage (Spanish) document.
- Updating Chrome and other troubleshooting guides are available on RCSD K-12 Chromebooks.
How can my students set their first and last name as their profile? I change it, but it doesn’t stay. Can they see messages in the waiting room?
Unfortunately the students are unable to see any of the waiting room messages. You will need to communicate outside of Zoom.
- Students are also unable to change their names while in your waiting room, but they can click “Leave” while they are waiting and change their profile name and re-join. See how in this video “Changing Profile Names.”
I am struggling to help parents and students with their Chromebooks. How can I help them?
These resources may help:
If the Chromebook needs to be replaced, please put in a HelpDesk Ticket through ROConnect for the student.
I am struggling with Zoom! How do I….?
