When Titans were Ridgemen...

October 4, 2019

Many know that Thomas reopened as a high school in 2001 and soon became known as the Titans. What you may not know is that Thomas (called RL) by the group below has a long history as a high school dating back to the early 1960's.

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of giving a tour to the Class of 1969 on the weekend of their 50th class reunion. It was great to hear their stories about our school and interesting to see their reaction to how classrooms have changed over the last 50 years. For current Titans- you are making memories that will last a lifetime right now. Get involved in high school so you have a story to tell at your 50th reunion. Welcome back Class of '69!

Hi. My name is Lilli and I am in 10th grade and a part of Best Buddies at Thomas High School. Best Buddies is an international and non - profit organization that creates friendships, jobs and leadership opportunities for people with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This organization gives you the opportunity to be paired with a person with an IDD. It is an opportunity for you to be a friend to someone else but also a chance for you to make many long lasting friendships.

I joined Best Buddies when I started 9th grade. I didn’t know much about it but decided to join because I wanted to be a part of a club and meet new people. When I joined Best Buddies and went to the first meeting, I couldn’t believe how welcoming everyone was. I immediately connected with so many people. At the meeting I met my best buddy Nina. We started by just a simple hello and it grew into so much more. We became so close and when we were matched as buddies we were beyond excited.

Nina and I are working together to raise $3000. Best Buddies is non profit so therefore the only way to keep Best Buddies running is by people like you! Please consider donating to this wonderful organization as you could be helping someone with a disability create a friendship. Any amount helps so much! Thank you for considering. Here is the link to help Nina and Lilli reach their goal:
