prenatal care

Do

  • See doctor regularly
  • Eat healthy
  • Drink water
  • Get enough sleep 7-9 hrs
  • Get flu shot

Don't

  • Smoke
  • Avoid exposure to toxic substances (cleaning solvents)
  • Drink alcohol
  • Use illegal drugs
  • Eat sword fish (food high in mercury)
  • Use scented feminine hygiene.

Nutrition

  • Drink plenty of fluids
  • Try not to eat red meat
  • Poultry
  • Leafy green veggies
  • Whole grain cereal and beans.

Exercise

  • Walk for 30 mins
  • Swim
  • Dance
  • Yoga

Dilatation

  • Water breaks
  • Cervix dilates
  • Baby prepare to pass through the tunnel

Labor

  • Deliver of baby from the mothers body either vaginal or C-section delivery.

Afterbirth

  • Delivery of placenta
  • Umbilical cord
  • Amniotic sac out of mothers body after baby is born

1 trimester- 12 weeks

Baby


  1. Fully formed- has arms, hands,fingers, feet and toes
  2. Can open and close fists and mouth.
  3. Reproductive organs develop

1 trimester- 12 weeks

Mother


  1. Hormone levels change significantly
  2. Uterus begins to support the growth of the placenta and fetus, your body adds to it's blood supply to carry oxygen and nutrition to the developing bod, and your heart rate increases
  3. These changes accompany many of the pregnancy symptoms, such as fatigue, morning sickness, headaches and constipation.

2 trimester- 24 weeks

Baby


  1. Will be almost 4×s as big as it was at the end of 1st trimester
  2. Sex becomes apparent
  3. Beginning to form urine and discharge it into amniotic fluid.

2 trimester- 24 weeks

Mother


  1. Most of the early pregnancy symptoms will gradually disappear
  2. New symptoms- leg cramps and heartburn
  3. Abdomen will start looking pregnant, as uterus Will grow rapidly in size.

3 trimester- 36 weeks

Baby

  1. Bones are fully developed
  2. Practices breathing
  3. Detects light.

3 trimester- 36 weeks

Mother


  1. Swelling of the ankles, fingers and face.
  2. Tender breasts
  3. Trouble sleeping.
