UPDATED PARAPROFESSIONAL SCHEDULES
Effective Monday, September 30, Michele Murray, Tina Hendershot, and Jaimie Bari will have new assignments/hours. Please visit HERE to view ALL of the para schedules as some have changed slightly.
STAFFING UPDATE
As you may have seen her e-mail, Carrie Mitton will be on leave through the beginning of November. We are working to secure a consistent substitute. In the meantime, thank you for your support of Carrie and our students.
COVERAGES
Many, many thanks to everyone who offered their time (even if we didn't take you up on your offer) to cover classes during the month of September when we've had sub failures or other coverage needs.
As we continue into the 19-20 school year, when we have coverage needs, Danielle Rapp is the first person to work on teacher coverages. She may reach out to one or to all of you to assist with classroom coverages. We will do our best to limit disruptions to student supports, so Christine will cover classes as will some other folks who have availability in their schedules.
Similarly, Debbie Shronk works on para coverages. She may reach out to ask for assistance with duties when we are short paras. She does her best to piece together schedules to provide student supports.
LEARNING WALKS: DOMAIN 2: CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT
Our Learning Walk teams have visited every type of class except for kindergarten and specialists... they're next on the list. In addition to last week's learning walk team members, Dr. McKillip (FC Principal), Geoff Ball, and Erica Wood completed some learning walks. Coming up this week... Ann Taglieri and Terri Lamison will join one or more walks. Would you like to join too?
Here are some glows:
Teachers utilize the learning spaces flexibly, safely, and efficiently. The classroom arrangements lend to multiple learner types and instructional approaches. When visiting multiple classes in a grade level, teachers and students look and sound cohesive.
Samples of "glow" comments:
"instruction clearly tailored to student needs; directions/redirections clear and concise."
"The teacher successfully transitioned students to the carpet with a song. Classroom transitions were quick and efficient."
"Teacher did a nice job setting expectations for the para who went to work with a student in a timely manner. Clear routine has been established and there is minimal loss of instructional time during transition."
"Teacher uses calm down corner successfully for student. Teacher encourages student when student needs support to maintain focus and perseverance."
"It is evident that there is strong instructional alignment among the 4th grade team."
"Teacher follows student behavior plan and provides quick, quiet reinforcement. Teacher uses choral clapping to gain student attention."
A LOOK AHEAD - OCTOBER 9, 2019 PD DAY
On October 9, we shall meet as an entire faculty in the gym from 8:00-10:30 with Thom Stecher and Associates. We'll engage in activities related to Climate and Culture Building Goals, and prepare for the upcoming Unity Days for grade 6 and the whole school. The rest of your day is time on your own and/or time with supervisors/department.
