What is bulimia?

Bulimia is an eating disorder that includes binges on large amounts of food, and purges. Other methods used with bulimia would be induced vomiting and excessive exercise.

Facts to know about Bulimia

  1. Doctors are not required to report Bulimia cases to health agencies.
  2. Studies say that bulimia currently affects 1-3% of middle and high school girls and 1-4% of college girls.
  3. 90% of people with bulimia are women.
  4. Purging bulimia- When you regularly, self induce vomiting or misuse laxatives.
  5. Non purging Bulimia- When you use other methods to rid excessive amounts of calories, such as exercising at unhealthy rates, strict dieting, or fasting.
