Children Need a Minimum of 8 Touches During a Day to Feel Connected to a Parent
Each day, children need one meaningful eye-to-eye conversation with a parent.
There are 9 minutes during the day that have the greatest impact on a child:
1) The first 3 minutes right after they wake up
2) The 3 minutes after they come home from school
3) The last 3 minutes of the day before they go to bed
We need to make those moments special and help our children feel loved.

Family Specialist Spotlight
Cindy’s parents taught her that “life is a gift” and what we decide to do with it would set our paths for our future. This philosophy began the path for her passion to help children and families overcome barriers. She began her journey with terminally ill children in the oncology ward at Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital. After Santa Rosa, Cindy had the privilege to oversee a United Way Agency for 17 ½ years helping families and children, whose lives were affected by a substance abuse problem or AIDS problem. In 2005, Ridgeview Elementary gained a phenomenal team leader in hiring Cindy as their Family Specialist. She counts this as a blessing for herself to continue and grow her passion at a student focused campus that keeps families a priority. Cindy shares her passion as a life-long learner by acquiring new languages such as Spanish, Japanese, American Sign Language, and some Farsi! Wow! She attributes her blessings to a supportive husband of 35 years and her gifted daughter who also shares her passion to help children and families. Her mission and hope in her work as a Family Specialist is to empower our families to overcome adversity so they can help their children experience academic success and become productive citizens in their community. Thank you, Cindy, for all your hard work and dedication to our families!
