What if God chooses you...
to do something great?
"Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts." Zechariah 4:6b
Dear families,
You may have heard me say, "Classical Conversations saved our homeschooling journey." I started homeschooling my daughter in 2006 when she was five years old. My son was one at the time. I thought I had no clue what I was doing. I was just being obedient to what God had told me to do. By the time my son was old enough to start formal learning, I was very tired. Although I did not know it at the time, I was experiencing adrenal failure. I thought I could not handle it, so in my own wisdom, I convinced my husband that we should enroll them in a local charter school in NC. It was not a good experience. They lasted there three months. God was working on me during those three months, but I was fighting Him. When I finally surrendered, I called my husband at work crying. He was thrilled and told me to drive over to the school right away to pull them out. I had no curriculum or a plan for my 4th grader. I frantically searched the internet over the next few days. I remember what I typed in the search field - "How do I teach multiple grade levels using the same materials?" Classical education popped up, and I had never heard of it. What is this classical education and how does it work? I read and read. I looked at multiple different types of programs that said they were classical. I never looked at Classical Conversations. Finally, I decided to try a program that I thought would work for us long term. It was okay for about two years. During this time, we moved to Naples, and we started to meet people through our church. I was explaining to a fellow homeschool mom how stressed I was trying to do this particular curriculum at home because something was missing, and I did not know what it was. She asked me if I had ever heard of Classical Conversations. I had to admit that I had, but that I did not have an interest in it. She wanted to know why, and I did not have a good answer for her. In love, she told me that I needed to check it out before saying no. That sounded reasonable, although it hurt my pride, so I decided to visit a local community in January 2014. I vividly remember sitting in with my son who had just turned 9, and then later in the afternoon with my 12 year old during Essentials. I was amazed! A friendly parent showed me the Foundations and Essentials guides, and although I did not understand how it worked, I knew this was what we were missing - a classical, Christian community. Praise God there was a seat at the table for us. Fast forward to 2019 and my children are 17 and 14 in Challenge III and Challenge B respectively. I have witnessed the exponential growth in not only my own children but many others who are on this same journey. I have made lifelong friendships. The relationships with my children are so much deeper because Classical Conversations has taught me how to focus on that first before any assignment. Classical Conversations has taught me how to ask good questions. Classical Conversations has taught me to think deeper. It is the reason I became a Support Representative back in 2015. I want everyone who would like to partake in these amazing programs to have a seat at the table. It could be the answers to their prayers.
Classical Conversations has a proven track record for over 20 years! Our mission is to know God and make Him known by modeling a Biblical worldview using the classical tools of learning. We do this by equipping parents and encouraging students through weekly gatherings that offer accountability and structure.
This is the time of year where your local leadership plan the needed programs and communities for the upcoming year. It is time for us to grow again! I have had so much interest in our programs as more and more parents are realizing that a home-centered education is the best choice for them. We have an opportunity to make God known to these families!
This is a team effort, and I cannot do it by myself. In fact, you are already experiencing that because you have a dedicated director this year. If it was not for our directors, there would be no programs or communities.
I am seeking to contract licensed directors for the 2019-2020 school year for Foundations and Essentials, and the Challenge programs to not only keep our established communities open but to also open new communities.
Please be in prayer about these opportunities. If God is leading you to find out more, please do not hesitate to call or email me. There is training, support, encouragement, financial incentive, and growth as a director. You will never be alone - just ask your current director.
I already have a wait list, and I do not want to turn anyone away.
