ESL Department
The ESL (English as a Second Language) Department at Bush works with ELL students (English Language Learners) in the ESL, Bilingual, and Dual Language programs. We help our bilingual students build their knowledge and learning of academic subjects in their first language while aiding them in their gradual transition into English. For our ESL learners, we provide intensive instruction in listening, speaking, reading, writing, and comprehending English. We also use cultural experiences as a platform to enrich and provide appropriate instruction in English.
Bush teachers are specially trained and certified to teach in ESL and bilingual classes. This enables them to meet the special language needs of ELL students. We are proud of our department’s role in assisting and working with excellent classroom teachers in both the bilingual and ESL programs. Hand in hand we help students to become proficient in English and to master the state curriculum.
Physical Education
In Physical Education we are becoming Physical Education all-stars by learning how to maintain our health through fitness and moderate to vigorous physical movement and activities. Healthier physically active kids are life long achievers and better learners when they are introduced to and participate in daily physical activity. Daily Physical Exercise, play fitness and exploration is necessary and also increases the chemical connections of brain cells. It’s TRUE…we kid you not… that is our goal!
For the safety of your child, please find out from your child’s teacher when his/her P.E days are and make sure that your child wears comfortable athletic shoes.
If your child is wearing boots, slides, sandals, skate shoes, heels, or shoes with a slippery bottom your child will not participate in PE on that day and will receive a U for participation for that day.
If your child is sick or is unable to participate for that day we will need a note from a parent or guardian. If your child cannot participate for an extended period of time, please submit a doctor’s note to the nurse’s office, and the nurse will notify the PE department.
It is advised that the girls wear shorts under their dresses and skirts if they are worn on P.E days
We have a lot of fun, innovative and challenging lessons to keep your child healthy and engaged this year; therefore, we look forward to teaching and interacting with your child this year.
Wishing you Great Health & Fitness:
