What is cancer?
Cancer is a disease caused by uncontrolled division of abnormal cells in a part of the body. The 3 most common cancers are lung cancer, brain cancer, and leukemia.
Leukemia
Leukemia is a type of cancer that affects the blood and bone marrow, it is often refereed to as the "blood cancer". Once the bone marrow undergoes a leukemia change, the leukemia cells may grow and survive better than normal cells.
Types of Leukemia
There are different types of leukemia. Every patient that has leukemia has a different type of it. The 4 main types are acute myeliod leukemia, chronic myeliod leukemia, acute lymphocytic leukemia, and the chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
Lung Cancer
Lung cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells that start off in one or both lungs; usually in the cells that line the air passages. Tumors usually start to grow in the lungs when you have lung cancer. As tumors become larger and more numerous, they undermine the lung’s ability to provide the bloodstream with oxygen. The most common way to get lung cancer is by smoking for a long time.
The stages of Lung Cancer
The two stages of lung cancer are primary lung cancer, and secondary lung cancer. Primary lung cancer originates in the lungs. Secondary lung cancer starts somewhere else in the body, metastasizes, and reaches the lungs.
Brain Cancer
Brain cancer is a disease of the brain in which cancer cells arise in the brain tissue. Cancer cells grow to form a mass of cancer tissue (tumor) that interferes with brain functions such as muscle control, sensation, memory, and other normal body functions. There are four stages of brain cancer, 4 being the worst and 1 being the start of brain cancer.
What causes all types of cancer?
The most common cause for all cancer is because of genetic mutations. Genetic mutation is something you can inherit from your parents or other family members, but you don’t have to inherit it. You can get it if you smoke, radiation, viruses, and more.
