BAS Weekly Update
March 12, 2023
Dear BAS Families,
BAS' Tournament of Books is off to a great start! On Thursday, we held our first school wide vote and Cat vs Dog has moved onto the next round. We can't wait to see how the votes turn out each week and look forward to reading many new stories throughout the month!
Thank you to Mrs. Meade and the PTA for the classroom library refresh! Teachers and students are excited to read the new books that are being added to their libraries. We appreciate your support in growing strong readers at BAS!
As a reminder, tomorrow is a Single Session Day for students. Please see dismissal times noted below.
Enjoy the remainder of your weekend,

Parent Academy - Bullies to Buddies
Parent presentation grades 3-8
Wednesday March 15th, 2023
Location: Orange Avenue School Auditorium
Time: 7:00-8:30 PM
In this workshop, you will learn how to teach your child how to respond to verbal aggression from others. The Bullies to Buddies method, developed by psychologist Izzy Kalman, is a social skills program that uses role-playing to teach children how to respond to bullying. Most anti-bullying programs are based on identifying and punishing the bully. Bullies to Buddies teaches how to respond to verbal aggression in a way that immediately decreases the incidence of bullying and increases resilience. This method doesn’t just change the lives of individual children; it has the potential to change the entire culture of a school and its community.
