Notes from Mr. Kimmel

Satellite Families,

We will have no school on Friday, April 2nd and then Spring Break begins Monday, April 5th. Enjoy this time with your children at home!!

ILEARN testing will take place for 3rd-6th grade students starting the week of April 19th and continuing through the week of May 10th. Attendance at school should always be a priority, but attendance during this testing window is extremely important.

I saw this poem recently, and I thought it would be great to share with all our South Central parents. As parents, we can get overwhelmed with the day-to-day responsibilities of raising children and worrying how are kids are going to "turn out." This poem is a good reminder that we can take a breath--what we are doing in raising our kids is more than enough. We ask a lot out of our kids, and it is more than okay for kids to be kids!

Messy Fingers (Poem written by: Debra Higginbotham)

Sticky fingers, tangled hair,
scattered crayons everywhere.
Fancy artwork on the wall
drawn by little ones three feet tall.
Tell me why and tell me how.
That was mine, I want it NOW!
Fix my bike. Buy me gum.
If you have it, I want some.
Dirty faces, grass-stained knees,
learning words like pretty please.
Endless hugs and goofy wet kisses,
learning respect with 'Mr.' & 'Mrs.'
Scraped-up hands from falling down.
Tender tugs - - on my night gown.
Need more paper for Santa's letter?
I wasn't so bad, but I've been better.
Watching a movie again and again.
Mommy, please put the tape back in.
Messy fingers, hair gone wild,
all in the life of a precious child!

Go Satellites!

Nick Kimmel

South Central Elementary Principal
