OPEN HOUSE & Title I Overview: August 25

We had a wonderful first week of school! It was so good to see our returning Mariners and many new members of our crew!

We will have an Open House on Thursday, August 25 to give families an opportunity to get to know your child's teacher better and also get important information to make a successful year.

We will offer two sessions: 5:30 and 6:15 to accommodate families with more than one student.

You will meet in your child's classroom and receive important information of how to make this a successful year for your student. In addition, we will provide information about the Title I program at Port Royal Elementary School.

Attendance Matters!

It is so important to attend school every day on time.

Homerooms start class daily at 7:45 with a morning meeting.

Your child is marked tardy if he/she is not in the CLASSROOM by 7:45.

Our doors open at 7:15.

If your child is a carrider; please drop off by 7:30 to eat a school breakfast. This will allow them just enough time to eat and get to the classroom by 7:45.

Homerooms will compete to see who has the best attendance each week. We will celebrate top winners each quarter with an ice cream social! Help your child's homeroom be a winner by setting goals for to attend school each day unless there is a medical excused absence.

We still have Mariner spirit shirts and sweatshirts available for sale during our Open House.
Big picture

We will come together in our first CREW RALLY on Friday. Each student in grades K to 5 is a member of one of four distinct crews: Engineers, Captains, Navigators, and Commissioners. New students will find out which crew they belong to during our crew rally. All students will meet in the multi-purpose room to celebrate our new crew members. All returning crew members are invited to wear their CREW COLORS on Friday. (RED-Commissioners, BLUE-Captains, BLACK-Navigators, GREEN-Engineers).

Parents are welcome to join us on Friday at 1:45.

Do you want to volunteer?

Are you interested in volunteering in your child's classroom?

Are you interested in chaperoning a field trip one day?

Do you want to help with field day, crew rally, or crew incentives?

If so, you will need to complete the BCSD volunteer application. It's best to do it now so you are ready when an opportunity to volunteer comes up. (they do expire... call Mrs. Simmons in the front office to find out if you need to update your volunteer status)

Proud to be your Principal!

I am so very proud to lead Port Royal Elementary School mariners in building a community where everyone is respectful, responsible, engaged, and well-rounded. Our mission is to educate, empower, and engage students through cooperation and communication, community involvement, challenging and innovative curriculum, social and emotional development, and a safe and inclusive environment.

We are going to have an amazing year! Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions or concerns about our school. We want to partner with our families to help students reach their goals of success!
