The Weekly Roar
Notes from Nick Novak: Monday February 8, 2016
Kudos...
as well to all the staff members who stepped up to facilitate sessions at the Unconference. Thank you to the following people who shared their expertise and helped foster great discussions among all the session participants: Demetrius Ball, Danelle Brennan, Dale Castro, Alyson Creighton, Stephanie Ghezzi, Sharon Goldsmith, Hannah Fromm, Matt Hanson, Tamara Jones, Doug Kaplan, Tasha Lavoie, Tracy Mai, Lynnette Moore, Brian Murphy, Allyson O'Neill, Laura Parsons, Jon Pieper, Brian Sackett, Emily Vargo, Lisa Veslany, and Emily Warner.
to everyone who made the Senior Midyear a success on Thursday night, especially senior sponsors Anne Handy and Sharon Sowada. Lots of staff support with chaperones too--Frances Angarita, Sharon Goldsmith, Donna Hayman, Daneace Jeffrey, Alison Ose, and Veronica Valentine. I apologize if I missed anyone--I was out in the parking lot with Mr. Sackett half the night trying to fix a student's car door.
FYI
1) Keep an eye on your email/text alerts or wherever you go for info about closings and delays. I'd be surprised if there's an announcement before tomorrow morning (which means that something will probably be sent out while I'm writing this newsletter).
2) Tuesday 2/9 is scheduled for report card distribution and for the first day of course registration collection. If there is no school tomorrow, we'll shift distribution/collection to Wednesday.
3) Wednesday 2/10 is scheduled to be a Lionstime day. No changes unless it's a 2 hr delay or school closed on Wednesday.
4) Our Howard staff dance team is performing this Thursday in the 2nd annual Strutting with the Staff competition. Come out to Centennial at 7pm and support your colleagues.

Unconference Follow-Up
I hope you enjoyed our professional learning session on Friday morning. I had some positive feedback from a few folks and I know I enjoyed the sessions I attended. Although you were able to attend only three sessions, you can still check out what happened in other sessions by reading the minutes. Here's the link. Just click on the word "Minutes" to access each individual file.
The basic purpose of professional learning is to improve your professional practice, so I'm curious how well we achieved that goal. Please complete this quick three-question survey to give me an idea of what you took away from the day and what we can do to improve the experience of future unconferences. Thanks.
