Welcome Back Kahla Knights
2020-2021
Words from Mr. Maddox
Dear Kahla Parents and Families,
It seems as if the world as we know it is changing daily, and I wanted to touch base with you today on a few important things. First and foremost, be assured we are doing our very best to keep your children safe. I know that the last six months has been different for everyone, but teaching and learning are foundational practices we cannot dismiss. Whether you select face to face or CFISD Connect Online, we must be committed to learning. The opportunity to refuel over the summer is a necessary component of the important work that we are committed too. The beginning of a new school year, like the dawning of a new day, reminds us that the future holds infinite possibilities. I know that we are about to begin a great school year filled with hope, vision, and excitement.
School starts September 8, 2020. and we will be an early start campus. Our school instructional hours will run from 7:20 a.m. to 2:50 p.m. We know that the pandemic has caused many concerns, but we plan to do our best to make learning enjoyable to the best of our ability.
Below are a few adjustments that we have made to provide to keep everyone safe. However, please review the LEAD Safely, CFISD Reopening Plan for a full description of safety measures.
- Protective warning signs
- Water bottle filling station
- Desk spacing
- Student desk and table shields
- Regular and frequent sanitizing of student work space
- Multiple lunch times
Students and staff must wear face masks on buses, hallways, common areas, and when social distancing is not feasible, including in classrooms, to the extent it is developmentally appropriate. See “Use of Face Masks Protoccol” for more information.
Currently, for 2020-2021 school year, lunch visitors will not be allowed.
Please continue to monitor the Kahla Website for weekly updated information.
Kahla Express
Water Bottle Filling Stations
The district will be installing 4 water bottle stations at Kahla.
The standard drinking fountains will be turned off so students will need to bring a water bottle from home each day. Water bottles must be taken home daily for washing. We ask that these be filled before coming to school to avoid a crowd of students needing to fill them first thing in the morning.
Water Bottle Guidelines:
- No larger than 24 oz.
- Transparent (only water allowed in them during the day)
- Must be a plastic bottle that is completely sealed
- Clear with no color
