From the Desk of the Principal
There are 12 days to the beginning of Advent.
In order to begin preparation for Advent with the children and families, I am presenting to you and the children the TWELVE DAYS OF WELCOME by Katie Cook.
Each day I will post a Welcoming Activity that you may want to talk with your child or children about. It is important that the children have talked with a parent/guardian or another grown up before they do any of these activities.
I hope you will participate in these activities with your child or children so they begin feeling the true meaning of Advent.
Thanks,
--Kevin
TWELVE DAYS OF WELCOME
DAY 1-November 9, 2015-Monday
- Think of someone in your class who does things that make it hard for you to like him or her. Think of something nice to do for that person. You might consider praying for him or her.
Day 2-November 10, 2015-Tuesday
- Find out about someone in your church or school who is sick and make a get-well card for him or her. Perhaps you could encourage your whole class to do this.
Day 3-November 11, 2015-Wednesday
- Make a Christmas stocking for a homebound person in your family or in your church or school.
Day 4-November 12, 2015-Thursday
- Encourage a group to go to a nursing home and sing Christmas carols for the residents.
Day 5-November 13, 2015-Friday
- Make a welcome basket for someone new in your school, church or neighborhood

PTO Fundraiser - Christmas Cash Raffle
The PTO is kicking off the Christmas Cash Raffle. The prize is $2500 cash! The winner will be drawn on Friday, December 11, 2015. Each family is receiving $100 worth of chances (20 chances at $5 each). Your help is needed for success! St. Paul School needs 100% participation from every school family to help bring money back into our school and to keep our tuition rates from rising. Please help us support this great school!
- If you sell all 20 of your chances ($100) then each student in your family will receive an extra Spirit Day on all Mondays beginning January 5, 2015, until the end of school. 2 Spirit Days each Week! WOW!
- The family selling the most chances will receive a $50 Visa gift card.
- For any family that sells more than $100 in chances, your name will be placed into a drawing for a $50 Visa gift card. You receive one chance for each additional ticket sold.
- The fundraiser mascot, BoBo, will reside in the classroom with the highest percentage of chances sold and returned. Percentages will be calculated every Monday. BoBo will reward the class with small prizes. Please turn in your sold chances as soon as you can!
- Class Ice Cream Sundae party for each class that has 100% of their chances sold and turned in by Monday, November 30th will have an ice cream sundae party with their class and teacher (party dates TBD).
- The class with the highest percentage of sales as of December 10, 2015, will receive a Pizza Party and extra recess for a week (party and week of recess TBD).
Here are some ideas on where you might be able to sell chances: friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers, at mass, at bingo and to family/friends you see over the Thanksgiving Holiday. Ask family and close friends to take to work with them to sell for you. Take to children’s nonschool related activities and share with parents from other schools that might be interested in winning cash for Christmas and please remember, we are not just asking people to purchase a raffle ticket. We are asking them to help support the school we love with a $5 donation.
To help with ticket sales, the following opportunities are available for families.
- Two (2) family limit for each mass, a Three (3) family limit at the Knights of Columbus Chicken Dinner at St. Paul and a One (1) family limit per bingo night. These opportunities are provided first come, first serve. If you wish to sign up for one of these events, please email Stephanie Gayheart at dawsonsmommy@twc.com or call (502)379-0323 with your event choice.
Please return sold (and unsold) chances by Wednesday, December 10, 2015. The drawing will be held December 11, 2015.
Thank you for your support! Your PTO WORKING TO MAKE OUR SCHOOL BETTER!
