The Peaceful King
Backround and Personality
Amenhotep was given the throne when his father died after 10 years of power. Then he only had one wife and her name was Queen Tiy. He also had many children. He was in power from 1417-1379 B.C. Amenhotep was also a peaceful king because he was only in one military expedition.
Downfall
He was killed by an unexpected illness but before he died he was expected to have arthritis and he was obese. After he died his first born son took the throne.
Building Projects
Amenhotep built a statue of himself called the Luxor Temple which is a temple complex that was built in the ancient Egyption capitol of Thebes.
Military Expeditions
When Amenhotep was the king there was only one battle and it was very minor. It took place in Upper Nubia which is a region along the Nile River.
Most remembered thing
The most remembered thing about Amenhotep III are his interests in art and expanding Egypt's influence in the far east.
