JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITES

DescriptionSomeone in this profession mixes and bakes ingredients to produce breads, rolls, cookies, cakes, pies, pastries, or othe baked goods.Responsibilities: Measure and weigh ingredients for batters and doughs.Observe the color of the items being baked.Combine measured ingredients.Roll, knead, cut, and shape dough.Apply glazes, icings, and other toppings to baked goods.Check equipment to make sure it follows the food and safety rules.Set oven temperatures and place items in the hot oven.    

EDUCATION AND TRAINING NEEDED

To become a baker you need to have a high school diploma and long-term on-the-job training.
