The Maze Runner
The book The Maze Runner by James Dashner will keep you at the edge of your seat and wanting to read more and more. This book is filled with suspense, adventures, and thrills.
This story takes place in a maze where it’s sunny and somehow they have all the supplies they need. The protagonist Thomas is faced with becoming used to maze when he was pulled out of a giant metal box by two people. When Thomas stands up outside of the maze he is greeted with a bunch of starring eyes, people wondering who he was. This group of people got there the same way Thomas did. One of the problems Thomas faces is when they realize that his memory has been wiped and he can only remember things without specific people or names. When Thomas finally gets used to the maze his friends tell him they were put in there by the creators of the maze who are also the antagonists of the story. Then out of nowhere a girl named Teresa comes and everything changes after that. Their power supply goes out, the sky turns a dark gray, and the maze doors never close. Who is this new girl and why did she come? Is she going to be good or bad? Will Thomas be able to escape the maze and find out about himself and the place he has been sent to? Read this thrilling book to find out.
Most of the suspenseful sections of the book occur in the middle/ending of the book . The author does a really good job of making you feel like you are there, especially when he describes how the monsters look like. With the author’s descriptive details you can picture things you can never imagine for example when he describes a type of monster that lingers in the maze “It’s body resemble a gigantic slug, sparsely covered in hair and glistening with slime, grotesquely pulsating in and out as it breathed.” I would recommend this book to my family and friends because it’s not too long and it has enough scenarios that will keep you absorbed in the storyline. You can catch on to this book really easily because it has so many suspenseful parts in it that it makes you want to read more to find out what will happen next.
