What's Happening in the Library?!
New Year, New Reading Resolutions!
It's the start of 2014 and there's no better time to start a brand new reading resolution! Try out one of these suggestions for adding a bit more reading to you and your child's lives this year:
- Listen to audiobooks during car rides. You can check audiobooks out from the public library or use the school's Overdrive catalog to find great audiobooks (please contact Ms. Reddy for a username and password!).
- Assign your children characters in the story and have them come up with a voice for their character (experiment with accents or different ways of speaking). While you are reading the story, take turns reading what each character says! It will be like your very own play!
- Whip up something new in the kitchen each week and invite your child to be in charge of reading all of the directions.
- Try out A Poem in Your Pocket! Write down short poems on a piece of paper and leave them in your child's coat pocket each morning before the go to school. There are tons of short poems on the internet, depending on what you and your child are interested in!).
