Miller's Little Ponies
Fun in First Grade
Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!
After our holiday off school, Miller's Littles will learn more about Martin Luther King Jr. and how he was such a brave American.
Learning with Miller's Littles
Miller's Littles completed PALs reading tests this past week. Early literacy screening is the key to providing effective literacy instruction and preventing future reading problems. The Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening (PALS) provides a comprehensive assessment of young children's knowledge of the important literacy fundamentals that are predictive of future reading success. PALS is the state-provided screening tool for Virginia's Early Intervention Reading Initiative and is used by 99% of school divisions in the state on a voluntary basis. Data sheets will come home in Tuesday folders to update you on your child's reading level. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about this new information! The PALS website, linked below, gives parents monthly tips and activities to do at home to boost reading skills.
