Highlights From Last Week....
Thank you for attending Open House! It was so nice to see you again. We had a fantastic turn out!
In Reader's Workshop, we learned about stamina and started building a graph to track our progress. Our graph is named, Stan the Stamina Man. Our goal is to color in Stan and receive a prize. Our goal will be to read 20 minutes by the end of kindergarten. We are at 7 minutes now! We also learned how to trade out our books that are in our browser boxes . We continued practicing turning and talking.
In Math, we worked on decomposing numbers to 3 and learned that 1+2=3. We also started looking at numbers 0, 1, 2, and 3. We learned how to write the numbers and used the numeral to represent a quantity.
In Phonics, we learned the sight words "so" and "go", please practice these words at home. Our letters of the week were u & I.
In Science, we learned about the sense of taste by having a taste test. We tried salt, sugar, lemon, and bitter chocolate. We also participated in a smelling experiment! We had a fun week in Science!
In our Second Step, we learned to read people's feelings by looking at people's faces.

Book Orders:
Our first book orders went home this week. Thank you for all your support and growing the love of reading in your children.
HELP!!
Our classroom is filling up with clothes that have no home! Please LABEL EVERYTHING!! If your child is missing sweatshirts or lunch boxes, please let me know.
High Fives:
Many of you have been asking about the high five program that we have at school. If your child is "caught" doing something really good, such as helping another student, being kind, being respectful, listening to adults etc, they receive a high five ticket. Once your child receives 5 high fives, they go to the office and get a photocopy of their hands and they can pick out a prize! The kids love this!!!
Thank you!!
