Communist
Ecuador
Business
Communism: The government owns businesses, the people do not. In Ecuador, a citizen cannot own their own business. The government owns and controls what is sold and produced. This is not like the United States at all because in the U.S, people are free to own their own business and decide what to produce and sell.
Society
The culture in Ecuador varies greatly between Mestizo, Amerindian, white European and black. Social class is very important in Ecuador, just like in the U.S. People who are born into a lower or higher class usually stay within that class.
Current Issues
President Rafael Correa has taken control over the media and civil society. People in Ecuador have hardly any freedom at all. Human rights are limited to almost none. In the United States, we do not have this problem because the governments power and control is limited.
