Pleasantville Elementary Raises $500 for the Walk to Cure Alzheimer's
The Iowa vs. Iowa State rivalry week marks the time when we collect loose change or dollars for a great cause. This year's cause was once again to help find a cure for Alzheimer's. Students brought in money and placed them in either an ISU or Iowa jar. At the end of the week, the jar with the most money in it got to have their school's fight song played over the intercom. This year, the Iowa Hawkeyes not only won on the field but also in our "Jar Wars" as Hawk fans contributed $275 to the cause while the Cyclones brought in $225. The $500 was then given to the Walk to Cure Alzheimer's that weekend. Thank you to everyone who contributed and supported this worthwhile cause!
Congratulations to Mrs. Gordon's class, Our "Orange Pride Classroom of the Month"
It is an honor to announce that Mrs. Gordon's 3rd Grade class has been chosen our "Orange Pride Classroom of the Month" for September. To earn this honor, a classroom needs to consistently exhibit and exemplify our three main rules of our Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports (PBIS) program, "Be Responsible, Be Respectful and Be Safe," which are commonly referred to as our "Orange Pride Expectations." For receiving this distinction, Mrs. Gordon's students have earned an additional five minutes of bonus recess per day for the entire month of October! Way to go!
September's Habit of the Month: Be Proactive!
Students continued to learn about and work on Habit #1: Be Proactive this month, part of the 7 Habits of Highly Successful People and our Leader In Me initiative. Someone that is proactive does a great job of taking care of their responsibilities and staying positive & calm in all situations. Two students from each classroom were nominated by their teacher for best exemplifying that habit and got to participate in our first Trojan Tromp of the year. Congratulations to the following students for being recognized as "PROACTIVE PEOPLE!": Susie Sloan, Kaleigh Pittman, Brody Wall, Evelyn Hoffman, Oakley Sutter, Quinn Stender, Chole Finley, Cayson Lokenvitz, Kayden Feldman, Shanna Curtis, JJ Hayes, Karter Collum, Anthony Sobotka, Breanna Croy, Lencie Lewis, Colby Christensen, Clara Metcalf, Maguire Mullenix, Alayna Loneman, Cale Sorenson, Jacob Rowson, Taylor Perkins, Maci Martin, Lizzie Heywood, Lauren Allen, Easton Cox, Grace Hintz, Kayne Brent, Lincoln Card, Tommy Sawhill, Macie Kuhnen, Georgia Boza, Mira Hughes, Ella Cantu, Kyleigh McConnell & Lexie Keeney.
