Alexander was the king of the ancient greek kingdom of Macedon know as Alexander the great. he was also a member of the Argead.

The Greek Mind
The Sophists were Greek teachers of philosophy, reasoning, and public speaking. They taught math, science, and history.They didn't believe that the gods influenced humans.They thought that one person's way of living for one person might be wrong for another. They also accepted money for there teachings. Not all philosophers approved of there ways. Socrates didn't believe in the Sophists teachings. He created the Socrates method to question them and there believes.
Socrates was a philosopher, but also a critic of the Sophists. He lived in Athens , but spent most of his time teaching. He created the Socratic method which is a way of questioning since he didn't lecture. Although many people didn't like him. the people of Athens arrested him and put him on trail. They found him guilty. They gave him an option to either leave Athens or stay but be sentenced to death. He choose death.
In 336 B.C , Alexander the Great became the leader of the Greek kingdom of Macedonia. He died thirteen years later but he had built an empire that reached all the way from Greece to India.This was called the Hellenistic period and it lasted from the death of Alexander in 323 B.C. until 31 B.C.,when roman troop conquered the territories that the Macedonian king once ruled.
During the Hellenistic period Greeks were exploring literature, theater, architecture ,music, mathematics, philosophy and science.There was always the yearly Olympic games that had chariot races,wrestling,pankration,long jump and more.
