National School Counseling Week 2024
The week of February 5th - February 9th was National School Counseling Week for 2024! This was an opportunity to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems. National School Counseling Week, sponsored by the American School Counseling Association (ASCA), highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a life beyond high school. The 2024 theme is "School Counseling: Standards-Based, Student-Focused."
If a school counselor has made a positive difference in you or your student's life, please let them know! They would be honored to be recognized and celebrated! Our department appreciates the opportunity to collaborate with and support our students and community!
Course Selection Process for 2024.2025
The course selection process for current 9th, 10th, and 11th graders is in full swing! At this point, students should have logged into PowerSchool and completed their course selections for next school year. We are leaving the course selection window open throughout vacation to provide an extra opportunity for students to take care of this important task. Students and families should review the 2024.2025 Education Guide for information on requirements, class descriptions, and more.
When we return from vacation, students will be meeting with their counselors individually to review their selections and ensure they are on track to meet graduation requirements. Please see the schedule of counselor meetings by grade level below:
Scheduling Timeline
February 26th - March 4th: Current Juniors meet with their school counselors individually during a science class to review and finalize course requests.
March 6th - March 12th: Current Sophomores meet with their school counselors individually during a Health class to review and finalize course requests.
March 13th - March 20th: Current Freshmen meet with their school counselors individually during a Freshman Seminar class to review and finalize course requests.

Please review the Scheduling Process Overview for further details and resources to help you navigate this important process. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your school counselor for assistance!

Mental Health Matters!
February is National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month
Dating violence is more common than you may think, especially among teens and young adults: 1 in 3 U.S. teens will experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse from someone they’re in a relationship with before becoming adults.
Each February, young adults and their loved ones nationwide raise awareness about teen dating violence through Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM). This annual, month-long effort focuses on advocacy and education to stop dating abuse before it starts.
