Pastor Mary Beth's Musings
One of the quietest, most behind-the-scenes ministries at Vista Ridge UMC happens EVERY Sunday morning. Dedicated servants travel to two of the senior adult living communities in our mission field to bring a time of worship to the residents and staff of Vista Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center and Arbor House. Not only do they sing and bring a message, these servants listen, they hold hands, they pray, and they notice these children of God. Many of the residents who come regularly to this worship time were committed members of churches in their younger years and they deeply miss being able to be a part of a worshipping community every week. They know the songs and will often rise up and join in the singing. They know what communion is. They’re hungry for the Word of God.
Over the last six years, life-giving relationships have been built between the residents of these two communities and the servants who spend time with them every week. Some of the servants stepped gingerly into being “helpers” and as their relationship with God has grown deeper, they have stepped out in faith to become messengers—offering a brief devotional during the worship time. This Traveling Ministry is touching lives every week.
This Sunday, we’ll celebrate the Story of this Traveling Ministry and how God is moving through its servants, its recipients and the community they are building together. I know you’ll be blessed by it as well.
I’m praying for you. I hope you’re praying for me.
Glory to God!

Help Needed for CCA Food Pantry
The VRUMC Pantry Team is in need of volunteers to work a Monday evening each quarter at the pantry. Hours are 6-8 p.m. Volunteers check out customers, bag groceries and restock items on the pantry shelves. Contact Rita Hobson, conz46@aol.com, for more information.
Fall Festival/Trunk or Treat
Volunteers are needed to host a trunk and treats, run a game, and donate candy, prizes and 2-liter sodas. This year’s Fall Festival is set for 4-6 p.m. Sunday, October 25. The event is an excellent opportunity to invite friends and neighbors to experience Vista Ridge UMC. Sign up to run a game or trunk or treat using the link below.
