MONTHLY MENTAL HEALTH
The Counseling Staff is focusing on mental health this year and the ways to maintain mental wellness as well as exploring roadblocks that challenge our mental healthiness.
Each month we will explore a theme related to mental health and the obstacles and strategies to assist students.
Mental health is one of your greatest assets. It helps you focus at school/work, overcome obstacles, get along with the people around you—and get well and stay well.

SOUTH TECH
November 4, 2021 - 5:00 -7:00 pm
The application window is now open for 10th graders to apply for next fall. 9th graders are encouraged to attend the open house to start planning for the future. While most of the programs are 2-years, South Tech will place incoming seniors if space allows.

COLLEGE | SCHOLARSHIP
Submission Deadline: November 1, 2021
Progress 64 West will award a minimum of $11,500 in scholarships: one $5,000 (a 2-year scholarship), two at $2,500 and one at $1,500 to 2021 graduating seniors based upon their submissions of an Executive Summary of a Business Plan.

Application Deadline: November 15, 2021
The Elks National Foundation will be awarding 500 scholarships nationally with the awards ranging from $50,000 - $4,000 over 4 years. In addition, St. Louis Lodge #9 will be awarding $100 each to the top three boys and the top three girls submitting applications to our Lodge. While this is a competition, the girls and boys are judged separately.

In addition, we will cover the financial aid forms needed and ways to simplify the process of applying for aid.

Understanding Athletic Recruiting
Date: December 1st, 2021 at 6:00 pm
In this webinar, students and parents will examine recruiting from an educational standpoint to learn how counselors can “coach” them on how to ask the right questions, self-recruit to achieve their athletic goals, and avoid the “Here’s How to Win a Scholarship” distractions from popular media and for-profit recruiting services. We will include the latest trends in athletic recruiting, including specialization, early commitments, the rise of club sports, the nuances of NESCAC and Ivy league recruiting, the accelerated timeline, and the impact of the pandemic on recruiting from both the coaches’ and students’ perspectives.
