WHAT ARE WE LEARNING ABOUT IN 6TH GRADE?
This month in English we will focus on expository writing. Students will be reading and analyzing a variety of expository texts and turning their personal narratives they wrote in the beginning of the unit into an expository.
Students will be studying South America this month! They will be learning about the governments, economic and educational systems, and cultures of the different countries in South America. Our unit will conclude by students designing a travel brochure over a country in South America.

We love Reading!
The 6th grade team is so excited to announce that we have scheduled a field trip for our 6th graders on Friday, November 16 to Cinemark Movie Theater in Allen to see the movie Wonder!
Based on the New York Times bestseller, Wonder tells the incredibly inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman. Born with facial differences that, up until now, have prevented him from going to a mainstream school, Auggie becomes the most unlikely of heroes when he enters the local fifth grade. As his family, his new classmates, and the larger community all struggle to discover their compassion and acceptance, Auggie’s extraordinary journey will unite them all and prove you can't blend in when you were born to stand out.
The book and the movie are memorable stories of kindness, courage and wonder. In fact, the most important theme throughout the book involves kindness. More specifically, always trying to be a little kinder than is necessary. “Courage. Kindness. Friendship. Character. These are the qualities that define us as human beings, and propel us, on occasion, to greatness.”
The cost of the trip is $ 15.00 per student, due by Friday, October 26. This will include: the ticket price, a movie snack pack, and bus transportation to and from the theater. You may pay online by clicking one of the links below:
