Bus Loop- Arrival and Dismissal Reminders
In efforts to keep all staff members and students healthy during this time, staff members are not allowed to open or close vehicle doors. Although our nature as educators is to help and assist our Tiny Tigers, we must follow the guidelines that were set forth by GCISD in the In-Person Plan. Please review below:
- Practice with your child on how to unbuckle and buckle themselves, as our staff will not be entering cars to assist students.
- Parents must stay in their vehicle unless you have a student with special physical needs who cannot unbuckle themselves.
- If you need to park and assist your child in or out of your vehicle, please pull all the way in front of cone #1 to the "Seatbelt Assistance" Sign. This will help other families to safely drive through the bus loop to pick up their child.
Thank you for partnering with us in keeping all of our students and staff healthy and safe!

Are the Expectations for your child on target?
We so appreciate how you are partnering with us to help your child learn and grow!
We know that the families at O.C. Taylor have high expectations for teaching and learning and want their children to achieve their highest potential! We agree with you and strive to provide learning opportunities to achieve those shared goals. Thank you for your support in this!
Here are the guidelines from the Parent and Teacher SBRC Guide for reporting progress on grade-level skills:
Students receive a 3 for a standard if they are consistently demonstrating the skill/understanding.
Students receive a 2 for a standard if they are showing progress toward consistently demonstrating the skill/understanding, but they still show it somewhat inconsistently.
Students receive a 1 for a standard if they are not showing any progress toward mastery of the skill/understanding and/or the demonstration of it is so erratic that it could merely be the result of lucky guessing.
To be able to show mastery (score of 3) of the skills assessed using SBRC (Standards-Based Report Card) standards, students must consistently demonstrate their understanding of the skill by completing assignments in a way that clearly shows understanding. If a student does not attempt or does the minimum to show their understanding, the highest that they can earn on report cards for demonstrating progress towards understanding and mastery is a 1.
Thank you for being your child's cheerleader and expecting them to take pride in their work and show their best thinking on their assignments. Thank you also for encouraging them to have the growth mindset needed to take a second look at assignments or to push through when it may feel like they can't do it or they don't want to.
