Florida PrePaid

If saving for your child’s college or career training is one of your financial goals, the window to enroll in Florida Prepaid College Savings Plans is now open. Florida 529 Prepaid Plans start at just $45 a month. The plans allow you to lock in tuition costs with a monthly payment now that never changes. Various plans are offered, and regardless of what college costs in the future, Florida Prepaid covers you. If costs are less, you get a refund. If costs are more, they cover the difference – guaranteed. Plans can be used for in-state and out-of-state tuition, and you can cancel at any time for a full refund (or transfer to another family member). Florida Prepaid is also offering an incentive to enroll this year. For every year of college purchased in a plan, you’ll earn $125 — up to $500 total. You can only enroll during the enrollment window which will remain open through April 30. For plan and enrollment information visit the Florida Prepaid website. (should link to https://bit.ly/3ehdnbA)

The Florida Prepaid College Board is the agency head and administers the Stanley G. Tate Florida Prepaid College Program (also known as the Florida Prepaid College Plan) and the Florida College Savings Program (also known as the Florida 529 Savings Plan), pursuant to the provisions of Part IV, Chapter 1009, Florida Statutes.

Free and Reduced Meal Applications

Next school year (i.e., 2022-23) when our district returns to operating under the National School Lunch Program, students at non-CEP schools will revert to paying for meals based on their determined eligibility status. If an application is not received before school starts or the student is not directly certified for free/reduced meal prices, a student will automatically be on a paid status at the start of the school year at non-CEP schools.

Applications are also very important for the student/family because eligibility for receipt of other non-school benefits (such as Florida PEBT debit cards, SAT/ACT fee waivers, Summer Camps, discounted internet access) depends on a child's meal eligibility status. At non-CEP schools, children can only become eligible for these additional benefits if they submit and receive approval of their free and reduced meal application. At CEP Schools, children are automatically considered to be free and reduced. (All students are considered free at CEP schools making them eligible for additional benefits as well).

Please contact Jane Zentko, Foodservice Director with additional questions at zentkoj@duvalschools.org or (904) 732-5145 x 1415.
