Opinion: Homework:- Atrocious or Acceptable?

By: Anna

We sit at school for 6 hours learning, learning, learning. When the bell rings we race down the hallways. We know now that we have time to relax. We get home put our stuff down and remember that we have homework. This could bring a kid down or they could get excited about it. Should we have homework?

We learn every day. knowledge keeps getting put into our brain. But when you get home from school, and you have homework, your brain is getting tired. You need a break from learning. Having too much homework can be unhealthy, when will kids ever have the time to play or have fun with their families. I definitely think that kids should not get homework. Some people are thrilled about homework so let’s hear it from them. We need to see what it’s like from all different perspectives. Let’s here from Layan in 3rd grade. She says “ I love to read, and we get reading almost every night. It also keeps me busy.” That’s great! What about from a 5th grade perspective. Nour says that, “ it’s great because whatever we are learning about in school, the homework gets me prepared for it. It also keeps me busy so I don’t get bored.”

So if we do get homework the benefits of that is it will keep us busy so we won’t be bored, we will get to do some of the things we like in school like reading. Most importantly it will prepare us for what you are learning about in school, so you will get better.

Some people think homework is a disgrace. So what do they have to say. Here’s Colin from 3rd grade he says, “we have homework every night and it’s really time consuming.” Homework should never be an every night thing! Keith in 5th grade says, “ there is too much homework! It makes me stressed, and I have very little time to spend with my family!”

So the non benefits of having homework is that if you have too much homework you will get to spend less time with your family, you can get really stressed because there is too much homework.

Homework can be atrocious or wonderful. There is so many people who have different opinions on homework. What should we do! What do you think?

Interviews of the Wolfies

Learn some things that you never knew about our staff!

By: Miqdad & Noah

Mrs. Jenkins, a Winter 2018 Wolfie Winner

Mrs. Jenkins is a fifth grade teacher at Washington Elementary School. Also, she won a Wolfie on February 21, 2018. Her room is Room 18 at the west wing. Mrs. Jenkins is married to her husband, Jared, two kids, Claire (10) and Nicholas (8), and a dog named Copper. In high school, she was thinking of becoming a guidance counselor. In order to become a guidance counselor, you needed to go to college and get a teaching background. She went to college and graduated from The Ohio State University (Go Bucks). She had many jobs before going to college when she was younger (not in order). She mowed lawns for a family company called Buck & Sons located in Hilliard. Also she was a waitress at Bob Evans, and worked in Human Resources during college. Also, she worked at Premier, an athletic club in Columbus. Mrs. Jenkins started teaching in 1999 and now has been teaching for 20 years! When she got this job it was a lot harder than she expected. But she has a lot of satisfaction when she teaches kids. Did you know that Mrs. Jenkins was a cheerleader at Hilliard High School.? She was also in 4-H and had livestock projects. She showed steers, hogs and sheep from ages 9-18 at the Franklin County Fair. She played basketball and ran track. We’ve learned a lot from Mrs. Jenkins and she has a very powerful background. And I hope that this article of The Interviews of the Wolfies helped you learn something new!

Interviews and Quotes By Addison

In the following article, you will see an interview where I read a quote to a teacher or student and ask both of them to tell me what that quote means to them or what it reminded them of. There will be 2 quotes for kindergarten, 1 for the teacher and 1 for a student plus 2 for the one and only guidance counselor, Mrs.Hawley.

Kindergarten-Teacher is Mrs.Scally:

So, Mrs.Scally, your quote is: “The best and most beautiful things in the world can not be or even touched they must be felt with the heart.” By Helen Keller.

Mrs.Scally said, “It reminds me of kindness and how each person can spread kindness to those around them. That’s what really matters. We love each other!

Kindergartener- Paige

So, Paige, your quote is: “The world can’t change it, only I can.” By Carol Burnet. Paige said, “like when you build legos, you use instructions, but I don’t need instructions, I can throw them out and be in charge of building my life.”

Mrs. Hawley:

So, Mrs. Hawley, your first quote is: “If you are working on something that you really care about, you don’t have to be pushed. The vision pulls you.” By Steve Jobs. Mrs. Hawley said, “When you love the work, it almost doesn’t seem like work. It is a joy! You put your heart into it and it becomes your purpose.”

Mrs. Hawley, your second quote is: “Many fear competition from others. But the biggest critic should be the one in the mirror.” By Unknown. Mrs. Hawley said, at the end of the day, it does not matter what others think of me- it’s what I think of me that matters most. I want to be the best for me!

SPORTS: Who will win the Premier League?

By: Omar

The race is so close. Who will win the premier league? Who do you want to win? Do you want Liverpool to win or do you think Manchester city will come out on top. Manchester City is currently leading by only 1 point. Liverpool has Mohamed Salah, Sadio Manè, and Roberto Firmino. But Manchester City has Sergio Agüero, Leroy Sanè, and Raheem Sterling. Liverpool is having a couple games that are going to be very hard.Their next game is against Tottenham Hotspur on March 31 at 11:30.Liverpool have a good chance of coming back on top. The chances are small but they have a chance at winning the premier league.

Manchester City won the premier league last year, but the question is will they win it again? I think that they can. The only risky game for Manchester City is their game against Tottenham. If they win that game they are most likely to win the premier league for two times in a row. But if Liverpool keep up and win the rest of their games and Manchester City lose, then Liverpool could win.

Liverpool on the other hand are doing good but if they lose one game they will most likely finish the league in second. But Liverpool shouldn’t give up because they could win the league. But even though the odds are against them I think that Liverpool could win.

So pretty much if you are to guess who would win the premier league I would think it would be Manchester City. But for the Liverpool fans out there don't give up hope, the reds could win in the end. But we will most likely know who will win by the result of the Manchester City vs Tottenham on April 20.
