Winter Park Band Notes

Congratulations to the six Winter Park Band students who were part of the 2018 All-County Jazz Ensemble - including: Adam DeLoach (alto saxophone 1), Colin Urbina (tenor saxophone 2), Tommy Claus (trombone 1), Samuel Dufresne (trombone 2), Patrick DeLoach (bass trombone), and David Johnston (piano)! They had a terrific performance yesterday in the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center!
This Wednesday is our annual incoming Freshman Band Ice-Breakers where we welcome the next Freshman Band class! We have some terrific students joining the Winter Park Band next school year, and our Ice-Breakers night is an important first connection between them and our Band Leadership! Please help to get the word out to any incoming Freshman Band students (and parent) that you might know! Make sure they are aware of the Ice-Breaker event, as well as the informational parent meeting being held concurrently in the Orchestra Room that night.

UNIFORM CLEANING VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Is that time of the year to clean the marching band uniforms, and we need a lot of help washing ALL of the uniforms. Please stop by the 600 Building on Wednesday April 25 or Thursday April 26 from 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM and pick up a set of 10 or 20 uniforms, and return them on Tuesday May 1 during Band Registration Night. For every 10 uniforms cleaned, the student's account will receive a credit of $5.00. Directions and laundry supplies will be provided!

CARPENTRY & PAINTING VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Skilled Carpenter Needed
If you have carpentry skills and tools we need your help. We are making some modifications to our marching band trailer to accommodate the new aluminum stairs that will be delivered this spring.
Painters Needed
Due to a lack of enough volunteers, the Trailer painting day has been moved to May 19. Please look for an opportunity on Band Registration Night to sign up to help with this important need.

MORE PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
We are still in need of parent and student volunteers for Band Registration Night on May 1 and Band Banquet Set Up on May 11. To volunteer, go to www.winterparkhsband.com, choose the Band calendar link and sign up on the day of the event at the colorful "helping hand" icons.
BAND REGISTRATION NIGHT - MAY 1
Band Registration Night for the 2018/2019 school year is on Tuesday, May 1, from 6 PM - 9 PM in the High School Band Room! Registration forms and information will be available on the Band website later this week.
The schedule for Band Registration night is as follows:
- Incoming Freshman, 6:00 PM - 6:45 PM
- Rising Sophomore, 6:45 PM - 7:30 PM
- Rising Junior, 7:30 PM - 8:15 PM
- Rising Senior, 8:15 PM - 9:00 PM
It is OK if you cannot make your scheduled time slot! It is set up that way to spread out the masses.
If you know of a rising band freshman who will be at Winter Park High School next year, please pass along this information to their parents!
BAND BANQUET
The Band Banquet is on Friday, May 11, beginning at 6 PM in the West Cafeteria for a potluck dinner. We hope to see all our families in attendance! You must RSVP and sign up for a dish by Friday, April 27 to attend the banquet portion of the evening. To do this, go to www.winterparkhsband.com, choose the Band calendar link, and click on the RSVP and Helping Hand icons on May 11.
