Canada has earned the most gold medals in ice hockey 8 out of the 21 previous Olympics. Vladislav Tretiak of the Soviet Union was the first male athlete to have one 1 silver medal and 3 gold medals in the same Olympics in ice hockey.
Qualification
The top five teams in the world rankings were automatically qualified, along with Russia due to being the host of the games. The other two open slots were open to any other teams to qualify for.
Where the games are Hosted
Bolshoy ice dome and Shaybay arena from February eighth to twenty-third.
Top Athletes
Jayna Hefford is tied for the lead with Vladislav Tretyak and Jennifer Botterill with three gold medals and one silver medal. Both Jayna and Jennifer are from Canada.
