Principal's Letter to Caregivers
It's hard to believe that we are already two days into December. Please remind your child/ren that cold weather is here, and that they should bring coats, hats and gloves to school if they wish to go outside for recess.
We want to once again thank families who attended the 11/22 Bingo night, and invite folks to come out next week for the Arts Night Out taking place at JFK on 12/6 from 5:00pm -8:00pm.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Take care,
Lauren

After School Program Information:
Hello JFK community,
Session 2 of our after school program starts December 12th and registration is now open. We have more exciting new offerings listed on the schedule of activities below. The after school program offers a wonderful opportunity to spend time with peers around shared areas of interest.
Please reach out to Chris Amirault, our fantastic after school coordinator, with any questions at camirault@northampton-k12.us. Registration paperwork is due by December 9th. Late registration requests will need to be sent to Chris Amirault directly. Classes DO FILL UP! The schedule below will be updated as classes fill and close.
Registration paperwork can be shared digitally with camirault@northampton-k12.us OR in hard copy to the main office. Hard copies of the registration form can be picked up in the main office or the cafeteria at any time.
The afterschool program relies on enrollment fees to pay the teachers and purchase materials. However, we are committed to making our activities accessible to ALL students and use a sliding scale for payment. Please contribute from $20 to $80 per EACH/ activity (day of the week) as you are able. We have a median suggested fee of $50 per activity/day. Over $50 helps fund scholarships for students unable to pay. Contact Chris Amirault to confidentially request a scholarship.

Hello from the library!
This week we want to direct your attention to two things!
#1: Have you checked out the library blog? We post information about new books, library activities, and so forth on there, but we also post videos related to reading, books, literature, etc! This week's video is on why graphic novels absolutely count as novels.
#2: The library will be participating in the Winter Arts Night Event on Tuesday, December 6! We will be giving away Advanced Reader Copies of a wide variety of books to any interested parties! We will also have information about our bookstore wishlists!

Digitial Report Cards Beginning in Quarter 2
The goal is to make JFK a little bit more environmentally friendly and to get students and caregivers more immediate access to grades. At the end of the academic year, in late June or early July, caregivers will still receive a paper copy of their student's report card for the academic year, by mail.
In order to make the transition to a digital report card as seamless as possible, we are asking caregivers to do two things:
1. Alert us if you would like to continue to receive paper report cards.
2. Ensure that you have Aspen access.
If you would like to continue to receive a paper report card and/or you need help accessing your Aspen account, please reachout to your student's grade level counselor.

The office staff will call the classroom to dismiss the student.

*Caregivers do not need to call the school or send a note ahead of time (unless someone other than the caregiver is picking up the student). Students cannot be dismissed until the caregiver arrives at school.
