Multiplying Decimals In The Real World
The first way you can use this in the real world is at a restaurant. You can use it when you are getting two or more of the same thing, so you have to multiply the price like this.
ex: A meal that you are getting is $2.14 and 2 other people want the same thing. So, you multiply $2.14 by 3 and get $6.42.
You use it when you are at the store. You can use it when you buy 4 mechanical pencils that cost $ 3.01. Look at the picture above for a quick and easy example.
Dividing Decimals In The Real World
Ok so the first way we divide decimals in the real world is in a restaurant! Because, if you have a 50% coupon and the food is $4.24 you have to split it in half to find out how much you are going to pay.
The next place we use dividing decimals is the same as the restaurant, because this can also use coupons and you have to split the price. Take a guess on what it could possibly be, but I might as well say that it's the store.
The final place that we use dividing decimals is the state fair or again another similar park! It follows the same rule as the other two, you can use a coupon too and you have to split the regular price in half!
Ok, so do you see the pattern through out all these problems? Even multiplying decimals? Well the pattern is that you can use both multiplying and dividing decimals in all places, at the same time without knowing it. That's all 3 of them!
