Century Updates
January 19, 2021
Activities: The virtual talent show, quarantalent, wraps up today. Students will receive prizes next week along with our winner being announced.
Next week we will begin collecting student art they have created during CDL for a virtual art show.
Advisory Grading:
Parents should have received information recently about Advisory grading during Semester 2. We will award .5 S/U elective credit at the end of the 2020-2021 school year for Advisory coursework. Students will complete a Google Form reflection on their participation in the four domains of Advisory:
Career & College Readiness
Building Relationships & Student Connections
Social Emotional Learning
Academic Support/Study Skills.
Advisory Lessons:
Today, students viewed a Martin Luther King Jr. day virtual assembly by James Layman, the Director of Student Programs for the Association of Washington School Principals. On Thursday and Friday, advisory teachers will reach out to individual students to provide 1-on-1 support. Students will check in to advisory and teachers will let them know how they are organizing those days.
Athletics:
We are hopeful that our student athletes will have the opportunity to compete OSAA’s current 2021 athletic season. All athletes need to make sure that they are registered on our current FamilyID registration: https://www.familyid.com/programs/century-high-school-2020-2021-season-2-season-3-and-season-4-registration.
Boosters:
We are looking for any parents interested in joining the Boosters Board. Information on which positions are available and what being on the board looks like will be discussed. Nominations will be accepted during the March and April meetings with voting in May.

PCC Preview Day!
February 17, 10:30am - 12pm
RSVP required - registration for future events coming
https://www.pcc.edu/enroll/preview-days.htm
Please make sure your 9-11 grade students attend advisory in March as that is when counselors will provide information about forecasting for the ‘21-’22 school year. Seniors will have different lessons those days.
Snow:
As you might have seen, snow is in the forecast for next week. HSD shared months ago that we will not cancel school during CDL due to snow. That being said, we do have a couple upcoming events that snow could impact:
PSAT on 1/26 - Should it snow, this event will probably get rescheduled.
LIPI - LIPI would turn into CDL as opposed to getting cancelled.
Upcoming Dates:
January 28 - End of Qtr 2 (Semester 1 for periods 5-8)
January 29 - No School Grade Prep
February 1 - No School Semester Prep
Student Email:
Make sure your student is not using Gmail to access their HSD email. While they will be able to send an email through Gmail, they won't receive any messages in their inbox. Instead, students should access their HSD email at mail.hsd.k12.or.us
