From the Office...
- When picking up your child from school at the end of the day, please wait in the entry/office area. This will ease congestion in the hallways and allow classroom teacher to tidy up their day without interruption. Thank you!
- Richmond Community Closet is sponsoring a shoe drive through Earth Day, April 22. Please bring new or gently worn sandals, tennis or closed-toe shoes to the donation container outside our front office (no boots or flip-flops, please.) Thank you!
- Please remember to save Box Tops for Education, Richmond Food Pride receipts and Teal's receipts. We are also part of the Cashwise More Rewards, Target Take Charge of Education and Arvig School Partnership Programs (simply designate Richmond Elementary as the school you would like to support.) Richmond PTC also receives 8% of every purchase from Shutterfly using this link: ShutterflyRichmondPTC. Richmond Elementary School received a check for $1000 from Richmond Food Pride again last spring as well as quarterly Teals, Arvig and Target donations!! Your efforts are certainly appreciated!!
- Just a gentle reminder of the new this year ROCORI Wellness Policy sent home in Open House folders: the new policy does focus on building healthy habits and having fun instead of food for birthday and other celebrations. Our staff will do their very best to make sure each child feels valued and recognized on his or her birthday. A highlight of my days is finding each student on his/her birthday to share a birthday pencil and to hear a little about upcoming plans. With that, we ask that you please do not send birthday food or treats of any kind with your child on their birthday. We thank you for your help with this change; a copy of the letter as well as birthday ideas for parents is attached below. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me or any member of the Wellness Committee (noted on the attached letter as well.)

Dear Parents,
Thank You for taking time to visit with me at conferences! Connecting with families is one of my favorite parts of teaching. The kids are always so proud to share their parents with us! It is fun to share our work and progress with you! Please know you are always welcome to sit in on our groups.
It is finally starting to feel like spring! Spring assessments will take place in April and May. Grades 3-5 will be taking the Reading and Math MCAs in April. Grades K-5 will be taking FAST assessments in early May. It is always exciting to see how much students grow in a year!
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like more information on intervention services.

From Our Kitchen
- Once a month we will have breakfast with a Special Guest. We have Guests scheduled for several months; some may be school employees and others may not. Each Guest will give a very short talk about who they are and what their job is. Please ask your son or daughter about our March Special Guest, Jennifer Bohnsack, parent, PTC President, and ROCORI School Board Member! Our Special Guest on April 8th will be Nathan Glenz, parent and owner of Richmond's very own A & W!
- ROCORI food service's mission is to fuel the minds and bodies of our students with nutritious and sustaining meals so they can thrive both physically and mentally, while instilling lifelong eating habits. We offer daily free breakfast for all students, including late start mornings.
