Sept. 15 was chosen as the starting point for Hispanic Heritage Month, to coincide with the anniversary of the "Cry of Dolores," or "Grito de Dolores," issued in 1810 from a town in central Mexico that launched that country's war for independence from Spain.

Staff Spotlight! Get to know your LMS Staff!
Max "The Rock" Kornel, Teacher
Place of Birth:My childhood home in Santa Barbara, California
Years at Lincoln: 5
Favorite Educator:
My wife is also a teacher in SMMUSD. She truly sees the gold in every student and puts their well-being first, no matter what. I've learned a lot about teaching from her over the years.
Fun Fact: When I was about 20, I taped my right thumb and index finger together and left them like that until I could write and draw with my left hand. Then three of my four kids turned out left-handed! .Coincidence or... something else?!?
Amanda McCoy, Teacher
Years at Lincoln:I have been at Lincoln for nine years. This is my fifteen years with SMMUSD, and my eighteenth year as a credentialed teacher
Favorite Educator: I had two favorite teachers. Interestingly enough, they were both history teachers. Mr. Ted Washington at John Adams Middle School and Mr. Pat Cady at Santa Monica High School. They were both very passionate, kind, and entertaining teachers who loved the subject they taught and their students.
Fun Fact: My children will be 4th generation SAMOHI graduates. Go Vikings!

It’s a short period of time but the BIGGEST contribution you can make towards the safety of our students.
If interested in volunteering, please go to our SignUpGenius Page for more info.
For the Safety of the children and volunteers and to keep traffic moving, please follow these reminders:
1. Pull all the way forward when you drop your child off. Do not block the staff parking entrance near the gymnasium.
2. Make sure students have their backpacks & belongings ready to exit when you stop. Drivers must remain in their vehicle at all times. Do not leave your car to open the trunk or help your children with their backpacks.
3. Do not sit and wait: Please help us maintain the flow of traffic and do not sit and wait in your vehicle.
4. Do not double park along the drop-off lane, and make illegal U-turn before/after the drop-off lane.
5. Drop your kids off earlier. There is more congestion ten minutes before school starts.
Please, remember that drop-off in the circular driveway is only for our neurodiverse students who are meeting para educators, students with mobility issues, and the school bus.
