January Newsletter 2021
Blessings for a Healthy and Happy 2021!
By now most of the Christmas decorations and gifts may have been put away, but the warm memories and the love of families and friends are ours to treasure forever. Or perhaps, like me, you have decided to extend the holiday a little further into the weeks ahead and keep your tree up until Valentine's Day! (I don't know about you, but I could certainly use the cheerful ambiance this winter!) Regardless, we pray God's Blessings for a Healthy and Happy New Year and thank Him for sending His son Jesus who allows us to carry Christmas in our hearts all year long!
Below you will find some specifics about month ahead to include information on registration.
You can leave now.

* Due to the timing of the New Year's holiday and the fact that we will not be back in the building until the week of January 11th, you are welcome to put your tuition in an envelope addressed to "GUMC Preschool" in the mailbox out in front of the church in the circle drive. I will be in the office during the week and can access the mailbox. If you aren't comfortable with that, please bring your child's tuition check on his/her first day back to school. Tuition amounts are as follows:
TuTh 3's $325
MWF 3's $460
TuWTh Pre-K $460
M-Th Pre-K $605
** Your child's teacher will be in-touch regarding the Zoom-class time. It is your option as to whether or not you would like your child to be part of this virtual learning time. We understand that some families may have devices and time tied up with older children's virtual learning, and we also understand that virtual learning for your preschooler may not be your preference.
Once again, this "soft" re-opening and offering the choice to have your child attend Zoom class instead of coming into the building is the best way to mitigate any possible outbreaks due to family gatherings or travel. It also gives time to watch for symptoms and be tested according to our "Guidelines for Travel and Social Gatherings".
2021-22 Registration for:
Currently Enrolled Families Begins January 19th
Currently enrolled families will register beginning the week of January 19th through January 26th. Registration forms will go home the week prior, on January 12th and 13th, in your child's folder.
Forms should be completed and put in an envelope with a check made payable to "GUMC Preschool" for the total amount due. Write your child's name and class selection in the memo line of the check. You can either give the envelope addressed "GUMC Registration" to your child's teacher or you can drop in the mailbox in the church circle out front.
Should your currently enrolled child need a larger T-shirt, add an additional $8.00 to your check, making sure to note the size needed, and we will send one home in several weeks after we receive the order.
Please email or call the preschool office if you have any questions, email@example.com or 410-489-7702.
Families on the Waitlist Begins January 28th
Families on the Waitlist will begin registering January 28th. Registration forms will be emailed.
Forms should be completed and put in an envelope with a check made payable to "GUMC Preschool" for the total amount due. Write your child's name and class selection in the memo line of the check. You can either mail registration from and check to the school at: GUMC Preschool, 13900 Burntwoods Rd. Glenelg, MD 21737; or you can drop in the mailbox in the church circle out front.
Please note the size T-shirt that you would like to order for your child upon starting in the fall on your registration form. Totes and T-shirts will be distributed when school starts.
5 Social Skills That Are Important for Kindergarten
Now, more than ever, parents may be wondering about what their children need to know before they go to kindergarten - especially if your child will be of age in the fall. At GUMC, we focus on all of the learning domains to include: language, reading and writing, math, social studies and science, physical, and of course, social-emotional. The article this month by Becton Loveless lists 5 social skills that are important for kindergarten readiness. Read about them here at:https://www.educationcorner.com/social-skills-for-kindergarten.html
